Burr gives Virgin Island Water by Creed 4 stars

In a preview of this coming Sunday's 'T Magazine (Fall Fashion Issue)' in the New York Times, Chandler Burr reviews three scents, including Virgin Island Water by Creed (a favorite of mine) and gives it 4 stars.

'...Creeds latest scent, Virgin Island Water. Lavish scents, sculpted in the trade winds, danced across the water as Oliver Creed navigated the Caribbean. (Marketing is marketing.) Now smell the juice. Surprise! Contrary to this melodramatic verbiage, here is an extraordinarily well-calibrated work that juxtaposes the smell of a breeze over turquoise saltwater with iced rum and the hot Caribbean sun, yet somehow stays elegant...'

Why does the text never appear when I click on this link? I only get the site's frame with the links ("The World", "The Images", "the Goods", etc...) but never the main body of the site...

Can anybody help me, by chance?

To me it's a very nice scent, but devoid of longevity on my skin.

From memory it was only good for an hour and a half or so in my wrist test, which makes it not worth buying at any significant price.

This is definitely a thoroughly test before buying scent.

Of the Creeds I've tested, VIW is the only scent I found somewhat decent. Less longevity on me too.

For me as well and I thought two of Burr's big criteria for a scent review included diffusion and longevity?

I have above average longevity for me, with VIW. It seems the longevity of this scent varies from person to person.

VIW is a summer classic, though I do have a feel like its missing a note that would make the scent extraordinary.....i just cant put a finger on it.....maybe mango or grapefruit

Try clicking this link: http://www.nytimes.com/indexes/2008/...e/t/index.html
Then choose from the toolbar at the top, The Goods and scroll down to Scent Notes column.

The TMagazine online utlizes Flash and I think that few browsers get all wonky trying to open up text in Flash.

Thanks for your help, unfortunately that doesn't help on my Firefox 3.0.1. Didn't work on my old IE6.0 either.

Well it's no "Bronze Goddess" that's for sure.

I really like this scent! I gave my friend a bunch of Creed samples and so far this is her favorite.

I'm a Creed fan. I don't like this scent. It seems confused. The citrus notes (orange, bergamot, lime) diffuse into the more floral notes with the coconut holding on. The added jasmine gives it the suntan lotion quality smell. The scent kind of comes together from irreverent parts though then lingers weakly. The transformation is more of an amalgamation of disparate elements that never live in harmony. By the time the jasmine settles and with the coconut notes gives a beach like experience the musk and boozy notes interrupt, rudely.

Cheers,
Al

VIW is nice but very unoriginal and very uncreed. I still prefer Erolfa to it.

I prefer MI to it. I too find it unoriginal and lacking something.
