If you had to pick only 4 perfumes to wear from now on, forever (with a twist!)

Thread Starter
This is inspired by the thread of the same name started by Nukapai on the female's board (thanks for the idea )

The concept is, for some reason, you are forced to pick ONLY 4 (or less) perfumes to wear for the rest of your life. Listing and/or is not allowed! Only 4, no ifs ands or buts about it.

Now for the twist that differentiates it from Nukapai's thread; the 4 perfumes must be from the same house. So, what four would you pick? Feel free to list what you would have preferred to pick instead if you had free reign to choose from any house, and why you chose what you chose, instead.

Me? I've got to think on this a bit..

Four from same house:
Aramis JHL
Aramis Bermuda Tonic
Aramis 900
Aramis Devin

Four from any house:

Aramis JHL
Creed Acier Aluminum
Caron Yatagan
Nina Ricci Signoricci (only to have one from this genre as well. There are plent others that rank higher than this otherwise)

I will follow suit...

Same house..

YSL Kouros
YSL Jazz
YSL Kouros Fraicheur

Aramis JHL

Different houses...

Aramis Havana
Chanel Platinum Egoiste
Creed Original Santal
Hermes Un Jardin En Mediterranee

Dang, limiting it to 4 shouldn't be that difficult, and I know there'd be some I'd desperately miss like Antidote and Dirty English.

Tea for Two
Premier Figuer Extreme
Saffran Troublant
La Chasse de Pappilion

I'd live next door to someone who goes for serge lutens though. In the end I went for L' Artisan because I feel their perfumes are more different from each other than SL.

What a cruel question -- I don't think I can do it IRL! I'll skip on the same house part for now -- houses that come to mind are L'artisan and PG.

Same house: Dior

Dior Homme Intense
Fahrehneit

Picking these, I notice, gives me a gourmand, a powerhouse, a classic cologne, and a woody fragrance.

I've got to try more Carons, because if I even so much as like pour un homme and The Third Man, I could see this lineup being my choice

Caron
3rd Man
L'Anarchiste
PuH
Yatagan

But, since I haven't tried PuH or the 3rd man, I don't feel comfortable with that despite loving Yatagan and L'Anarchiste. After that, I know that my fave house is MPG, but there are still so many I haven't tried. I think, at this time I'd go with

MPG
Iris Bleu Gris (classy, refined, leaning towards elegant)
Grain de Plaisir (dry and herbal but fresh enough for summer and casual wear)
Centaure (cold and dark, good for melancholy moods, straddles the line between casual and formal, can work in either I'd think)
Route du Vetiver (powerhouse earthy frag)

I'd likely replace RdV and/or GdP with a woody/ambery frag and a fresh/uplifting/summery frag, respectively. I've really got to sample the rest of this line.

From any house:
L'Anarchiste
Antidote
Grey Flannel
Prada Amber
(wow, I'm surprised to find no niche in there.)

I will ignore the twist... Here's the list:

-Acqua di Parma colonia OR Extra Vieille Jean Marie Farina
-Hammam Bouquet
-Eau D'Hadrien
-Bois du Portugal (was Chanel PMC, but I changed my mind)

AdP:

Same House:
LV Piper Nigrum
LV Vetiver
LV Spezie
LV Yerbamate

If I had to choose just four from different houses, I think I'd lose my mind! I might be able to narrow it down to 10, but that's as far as I could go.

OK, I'm giving this a shot now:
LV Piper Nigrum
MPG Eau des Iles
Parfum d'Empire Eau de Gloire
L'Artisan Passage d'Enfer
( ... but I can't believe I had to leave out Yatagan, Dzing!, Gris Clair ... the list could go on and on ...)

Two for eternity:

Kouros
Opium (1977)
Creed:
-Baie de Genievre*
-Bois du Portugal
-Cypres Musc
-Orange Spice (Never smelled it, but if it's like Kouros, which reviews state it is, then I'd be up for it)
-Vetiver/Original Vetiver

*I still haven't sampled Vintage Tabarome, if I like(d) it a lot I'd swap BdG out for it.

This is way harder than it had any right to be. It's a toss-up between Guerlain, YSL and Cartier for me since I have to pick houses that I love but will get me through any situation with just 4.

Guerlain:
Vetiver (Second formulation)
Coriolan
Heritage EDP
L'Instant

YSL
L'Homme
Live Jazz
M7
Opium

Cartier
Santos
Pascha
Eau de Cartier
Must De Cartier

With four from any house...
MPG Eau Des Iles Old Forumla
Terre D'Hermes
Bulgari Pour Homme Extreme
Havana
Difficult... for me there are many houses that two fragrances are easily great... but three... and then four... oooff.

So, for at least 3, then I would take
Labo Rose 31
Labo Vetiver 46
Labo Vanille 44

Nasomatto Absinth
Nasomatto Hindu Grass
Nasomatto Duro

Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire
Malle Musc Ravageur
Malle Noir Epices
Malle Bois d'Orage

Oops... I guess that's four!

YSL Rive Gauche
YSL Kouros
YSL M7

I guess I could find more (easily) but that's the list for now!

Wow, this is only an easy question for me 'cause I can only think of one house I've tried and enjoyed at least four scents from. Burberry London and Original Burberry for cooler weather, Touch and Weekend for warmer weather. I'm not big on Weekend, but it'll have to do.
I don't have anywhere near the experience to be able to identify four must have fragrances from the same house - the only four I can speak to are Creeds and I would forgo settling with the mere mediocrity of four Creeds for one outstanding fragrance from another house.

That being said my four selections from different houses are:

L'Air du Desert Marocain - Tauer
Patou pour Homme - Jean Patou
Muscs Koublaï Khän - Serge Lutens
Musc for Him oil parfum - Narcisco Rodriguez

Guerlian:

1. Vetiver, of course.
2. Habit Rouge ( and stop telling me the edc is better unless you send me a free sample)
3. Heritage ( Damn. Good juice but I like Zino better )
4. Mouchoir de Monsieur-which, along with Eau de Guerlian, I've never smelled; but c'mon I got to trust Luca on something!

Chanel:

1. Antaeus, of course
2. Egoiste, of course
3. Pour Monsieur, which I've never smelled, but having fallen asleep over the PMC version I deduce it must be a gem--or at least a lot better
4. Cuir de Russie--I hope it's not too macho. Still between this and platinum (battery acid ) egoiste . . .

Creed:

1. Vintage Tabarome ( Send up those Spitfires! )
2. Acier Aluminium ( Salome, you want WHAT on a silver platter? )
3. Himalaya ( it better be real, unspoiled EDP-or Neiman Marcus will need more guards. )
4. Erolfa ( By the seashore)

Hermes:

Naw, I'm giving away too much info . . .

Cheers,

Mario

As of this morning, Guerlain's Vetiver, Knize ten, 1934 Dunhill, Creed Green Valley.

After I get my package from Caron NY, perhaps PuH, Tabac Blonde and if I can get thru a few wearings of yatigan, well who knows.

ps Can someone brief me on differences between Knize Ten and Tabac Blonde? And also why one would attempt to wear Yatigan? Thanks,
Rick

OK Received my box from Phyto Universe (Caron) in NY. There it was, a 16 oz very nice bottle of Pour Un Homme, a 4.2 oz "filler bottle" with a silver bar going down the front and down the back. Fabulous packaging really. Smells great too! A new favorite. I also received some samples. One in particular had to be tried immediatly. A small drop of Yatigan and NOW I GET IT!!!! Perhaps the local juice Itried last week was bad or old but this stuff is truly interesting. Interesting enough for me to call tomorrow and see what is available. Diane in NY said it was her favorite. Nothing like it.

On the negative side, how can one sell upscale goods operating out of "Phyto Universe"? I would think the owners of Caron would know better. Sort of like having Chanel operate out of Bed Bath and Beyond.

I would think those of us that like Caron should stock up as our (my) new favorites might not be available for long or only available until stocks run out on the internet. Hope I am wrong.
