I found the most wonderful fragrance shop while 'evacuated' in Austin, TX - Enchante (enchanteonline). If you're in Austin check this store out. The owner was very helpful and decanted over a dozen samples for me (including a 5ml decant of Knize Ten, which is out of stock). They have a large variety of niche lines and shaving products.

I also purchased:

Acca Kappa 1969
Roger & Gallet Vetyver EdC
Fragonard EdT mini-bottle sample box (Suivez-Moi, Concerto, Veyver, Eau de Hongrie, Santal)
plus, Taylor at Old Bond Street Lemon & Lime Shaving Cream

I'd love to read about your impressions of them in another thread. The descriptions of several of these had me practically frothing at my mouth

I went to NM at lunch to buy a small bottle of Encre Noire and all they had was the big 100ml one. What am I going to do with that much? I've been trying to buy smaller and smaller amounts lately since a bottle is doing well if it gets 10 wears a year. Its inky vetiver self will have to wait.

I tried Guerlain's 68 and really liked it.. again, nothing that blew me away. I would love to give it a skin wear rather than a quick 5 minutes on paper though. Bright, clean, with a touch of citrus.

I tried RL Purple Label to see the similarities to Bleecker Street.. it's there, but it's a much weaker scent to me. It's a bit sharper with less of the creamy aspects I love in Bleecker Street.

I tried Héritage and though I liked the drydown quite a bit, the topnotes were a little too bracing for this excursion. The lovely ladies were already irritating me. It's very classic, but I think I could easily wear it with success now.

I revisited AdP Colonia Assoluta and Intensa... still like them both, but they weren't what I wanted on this visit. Another time, my friends.

I moved on to the Jo Malone area and tried Amber Lavender, Lime Basil Mandarin, Pomegranite Noir, and a new one called Sweet Lime & Cedar.

I liked the AL opening, but loved the drydown. The classic lavender in the opening faded to a well structured, warm scent with just a touch of sweetness to balance it out.
I loved the LBM, but wasn't sure if I needed more in the family of what I have a couple of already.
I liked the Pom Noir, but the tart gumminess of the pomegranite just isn't something I could get into.
I also really liked the Sweet Lime & Cedar... there was something so familiar with the type of cedar they used.. like a sweet atlas. The drydown struck me as a bit feminine so I decided I'd research it later and maybe revisit it.

I decided to buy a small bottle of the Amber Lavender.

Of course they were out and didn't know when they'd get it back. Of course. Of course I could order it and have it delivered to me for free. Of course I had to buy something since I was there.

I said whatever and bought a bottle of Lime Basil Mandarin... and damn glad I did. It's on my hand now and I love it. I don't care if it's in the same genre of others I have. Now I have more.
The end.

Jo Malone Sweet Lime and Cedar

I have been wanting to try this one. The notes sounded very interesting to me. The SA at Saks told me they would be getting a tester of it soon, but it hasn't arrived yet

Opium EDP

I have finally ordered the powerhouse oriental greatness that i have been looking for. Here is the thing though, this stuff is so powerful and elegant that i cant wear it everyday or even if i go out to grab a beer in a t-shirt and jeans. On the other hand, it will be wonderful when i am all dressed up and ready to woo some fine young lady friends.

I couldn't find the Original of CPM - so today I bought the Concentree. Actually, I found it at my local Dillards for less than online! Quite surprised!

mrclmind/bbBD - where did you get the original?

A mini of Egoiste by Chanel

Ever since I smelled this, at the airport duty free, on my way to my summer vacation I've been wanting to get some. This is going to smell really great when the weather cools down a bit.
Catalyst/Halston. At first, a clove fest. But then something crisp and wonderful (sage?) And of course. Sandalwood. Lots of sandalwood. I'll have to save this for cold weather, though, as it is very spicy (and VERY loud on my skin.)

L'Artisan Dzongkha at Hall's. Picked up a sample of it last Saturday and found myself drawn back all week until the sample was gone. Also, requested a phone call when Roadster arrives.

Yesterday evening I ordered a bottle of Rose 31 from my SA in the Vegas Barney's that hooks me up with loads of samples

I also ordered a pile of samples, some for me and some for my girlfriend:

M. Micallef - Black Sea
M. Micallef - Homme (Aoud)
Dorissima - Goldmund
Washington Tremlett - Black Tie
Farmacia SS. Annunziata - Cara
Farmacia SS. Annunziata - Regina
10 Corso Como - Corso Como

Now the waiting game!

I finally bought L'Air Du Desert MAROCAIN. I had a sample and loved this perfume, but it is very expensive, so I kept postponing the acquisition. I got free shipping from LuckyScent, and they will also send me three free samples. Also, their price is $15 cheaper than Aedes.

LDDM is even better than Ambre Sultan and Ambre Precieux. It is my favorite Amber.

Givenchy Vetyver from www.Parfuemerie-Welt.de in Germany (one of the fastest deliveries after placing an order I can remember!) - and they included samples of Kenzo Power & Lolita Lempicka - thanks to ebear for the site info!

I'm only familiar with a few of these, but I think you'll be quite pleased with a couple of those and may be disappointed by some (of the ones I know )

Terre d'Hermes and Givenchy Pi get a lot of love here. I own TdH and used to own Givenchy Pi. I sold it after I got a decant of another vanilla scent that floored me and have since snagged a full bottle. They're both really esquisite and unique.

Have those arrived yet or just ordered? That'll be quite the exciting Christmas morning-like afternoon when they arrive!

Welcome, btw

Thanks for the welcome! About 2/3 of them already arrived - it is like Christmas, yes! So far I've enjoyed all of them except YSL Pour Homme. I spend a little time with each and I'll write reviews for all. I love the fragrances, and, guilty pleasure - cool bottles too! I have a few vanilla based fragrances, I may narrow that down - Hanae Mori, Perry Ellis 360 White, Jovan White Musk, and soon Givenchy Pi. What's the vanilla that struck you?

Cheers,
Andy

Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille... I got a decant of it a little while back and found that it mixes perfectly with my skin chemistry. I just recently got a bottle from a bnoter It's a super boozy, straight forward vanilla.

Whoosh! Picked up two super deals today, Amouage Jubilation XXV off of Beautyencounter for the pittance of $50 for a 1 oz bottle! Then wrapped up an eBay auction I'd been watching for four days and picked up a 2.5oz bottle of Comme des Garçons Series 2: Red - Palisander for $50.54. Thanks to mike for spotting the auction and filling me in!

Good choices!

Now you just gotta score Cruel Intentions and Vetiver Tonka and you can achieve Scent Nirvana!

I'm new to this site and just recently started buying fragrances. I bought Bvlgari The Rouge recently as well as Ferrari Black. I bought Ferrari Racing last week as well. Yesterday I bought Cool Water Game by Davidoff and today I got Versace Black Jeans. Yeah, so this collection may seem lame to the veteran fragrance buffs but I think they are all good and varied. I hope I like Black Jeans since I ordered it online and have not tried it yet.

Also new to this... I'm trying alot of samples but man the wish to own bottles is leading me to blind buy.

Hermes- Jardin Sur Le Nil 1.7oz
Zirh- Corduroy 4.2oz (blind)

Super tempted to buy CDG White (decant is running out) for the winter season. And I'm currently on the edge about buying Rive Gauche.

Un Jardun Sur Le Nil is great stuff, on the surface it's a pleasant mango fruity scent but it's rather deep and I think you'll end up liking it. Can't say so much for Corduroy though, it's not one of my favorites.
