Which of the Acqua di Parma Colonia products is your fave?

Hi Basenoters,

I'm planning to purchase one of products in the AdP Colonia range. Having tested the 3 (original, Intense, & Assoluta) I'm leaning towards the Assoluta but I would really enjoy reading your views.

Thanks in advance for any response / advice.

I have Intensa but love Assoluta too. The orginal is also a fine fragrance but on my skin it has questionable longevity.

The thing was, I liked Intensa enough to commit to a bottle, the same is not true of Assoluta which I would only buy at a knock down price on Ebay if it came up.

I have tried original and assoluta and I like better original, in fact today I am using original, I love it and everyone around me also. It is discrete yet very classy and happy fragrance, a "feel good" colonia always, I love it after a nice warm shower.

I have tried the original & Intensa but my favourite is the COLONIA ASSOLUTA.

The Original - why mess with or settle for anything less then a classic.

Original Colonia is nice and classy old style Italian frag, but I wouldn't wear it. Assoluta is trying to be older than original and completely fails IMHO. It has that "old ladies" smell.

Intensa is the only one I like, but I think all of them are overpriced.

Colonia Assoluta

Assoluta for me.

I think you'll find that opinions are equally divided among the three, so your decision won't be any easier. When it comes down to it, they're all good.

Assoluta for me but all three are great. I want to own all of them at some point.

Intensa. I love this stuff. Drydown is incredible.

I get great longevity 12+ hours from the original. olfactory fatigue sets in quickly with this one though. What I do is to spray some on the top side of my forearm before I go to bed, and then smell it in the morning. I think some scents that have a bad reputation might just surprise you. 

The original Colonia for me.

I'm with TwoRoads and say the original is what makes me happiest. I'm with TheDuke and say I have amazing longevity from it when I wear it.

I like the Intensa for its fresh quality. It is a different fragrance altogether from Assoluta which I also like for its warm floral chypre finish. I would decide for the Assoluta by comparing it to fragrances it is more similar to like Chanel Pour Monsieur or Monsieur Givenchy. The Intensa is more in the category of the many fresh fragrances out there. They are all good and I've had the original before (2 bottles) and like it, but I reach for the Intensa now.

I tried all of them, and I really think the original is the best. It is such a happy, uplifiting perfume. I love it.

I haven't tried the original, but I'm completely satisfied with Assoluta. Intensa is not my cup of tee.
I like the original the most.
I've finished a couple of bottles of the original but I wouldn't buy any of the three anymore since I now feel they're ridiculously overpriced.

The original, it's so beautiful in the drydown.
The original, mainly the body lotion. It's the most luxurious and fresh feeling one can have after a shower.
Intensa, hands down.
The original. It is perfect.

Acqua di Parma original is very much like Extra Vieille Jean Marie Farina. It is a classic cologne. But it has a warmer heart than Extra Vieille. It is less sharp, and has a beautiful rose in the middle.

Intensa.
Iris Nobile, without a doubt. Wasn't too taken with anyone else, however I recognize the original as a very nice crafted fragrance.

Colonia. When one thinks of this fragrance, the first thing they say is thats a nice Citrus frag, Well don't over look the Rose in this fragrance. Bulgarian Rose is very nicely done in this offering. Not often thought of as a Rose fragrance, but has a very nice Rose element.Supported by Citrus, and Florals.

Perhaps a poll on which Colonia is the most popular would be useful.

Snafoo nailed it, it is near impossible to achieve consensus. It's been great fun reading the responses though:-) My next move: I'll be spending some more time testing the 3 before I commit. Thanks to all!

Assoluta!

I finally voted with my wallet.
I found the opening of the original a bit too sharp (beautiful dry-down), and Intensa while much smoother was all but gone from my skin within an hour.
The lavender in Assoluta won me over and I got much better longevity out of it! I'll really enjoy this over the warmer months.

The two I own are Assoluta and, although not a Colonia frag, Iris Noble. I think the original Colonia is also very nice, and classic. It was a bit too masculine for me, so I did not buy it.

At any rate, Assoluta is a fougere, but it starts with citrus. It has great lasting power, and can get very sweet on some people. Iris Noble is a light floral--a beautiful, pleasing scent, great for warm weather.

Best smell: Original
Best longevity: Assoluta
Nice smell/poor longevity: Intensa

Favorite? Assoluta (Due to the improved longevity.)
I like the original and intensia, probably with a slight edge to intensia. I did not like assoluta.
The original Colonia is my favorite, and a superb citrus. Assoluta is also very good.
