Hey guys, I'm asking for everyones opinion/suggestion for their favorite scent with smokey or tobacco-y notes. No preferences here, my taste in fragrance is pretty eclectic. I just want to find something good for my next buy. Descriptions of your scent suggestions would be much appreciated.

thanks guys!

Guerlain Vetiver.
Cuba C&S
Creed Vintage Taberome (spelling) is pretty tabbaco-ie, Fumerie Turque is cherry pipe tabbaco and smoke, Hinoki smells like the inside of a humidor to me.

Some might say Versace Dreamer, but I don't really get tabbaco from it.

If you use the search you can find some wonderful threads about tabbaco

Olivier Durbano Black Tourmaline and CDG Avignon for smokey notes.

I've been trying to find a sample of Cuba by C&S, they don't have it in TPC, what's that like?

I would suggest:

Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme
Aramis Havana
Michael Storer Monk
Antonio Puig Quorum
Vera Wang for Men

Still trying to wrap my brain and nose around Black tourmaline. CDG Avignon I've sampled as well. Good frankincense note. I like it alot, I'm catholic so it reminds me of going to mass. I do like its ability to conjure up scent memory for me, it's a very well done scent IMO, but I don't know how wearable it is. It's a very ponderous contemplative scent. I may get it in the future, right now I'm happy with my decant. I'm looking for something more alluring and wearable in the social night time setting. Thanks though!

I called the nice people at Cambridge Chemists. They sent me a sample of Cuba at no charge.

Just sampled a couple of Tom Ford's private blend collection, and Bois Rouge is very smokey, with spiced notes although it's longevity is weak, and Tobacco Vanille is of course full of rich tobacco goodness! For a more available buy, I like L'Artisan's Tea for Two - which is slightly smokey.

Ooops! Almost forgot to add Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille - nice boozy/tobaccoey-vanilla!

My favorite tobacco scents include:

'Vintage' Tabarome - Creed
Tabacco Toscano - Santa Maria Novella
Domenico Caraceni Pour Homme (1913) - Domenico Caraceni
Acqua di Cuba - Santa Maria Novella
Cuba - Czech & Speake
G 11 pour Homme - Il Profumo
Havana - Aramis
Montana Parfum d'Homme - Montana
Nicolai Pour Homme - Parfums de Nicolai
Quorum - Antonio Puig
Vetiver - Guerlain

Cool, I've never sampled those two Tom Ford scents before. I have sampled Tea for Two, not my cup of tea (teehee). The Guerlain i will have to find out about. Thanks for the suggestions, i'll add it to the list.

Sweet, fruity, tobacco: Chic/Herrera
There are already great suggestions on this thread, but I think Miller Harris's Feuilles de Tabac has to be given a sniff. It's the smell of slightly moist huge tobacco leaves drying in a shady tobacco barn to me. With bright sunshine outside. It almost makes my mouth pucker the same way tart lemons do. (No lemons to the smell, but tobacco makes my mouth water and almost pucker.)

Fumerie Turque
The aforementioned "The Dreamer" is rather famous for its' tobacco notes. I also find Andy Tauer's L' air du desert marocain to have a smokey quality as does his Lonestar Memories.
Fumerie Turque (again)
Black Tourmaline (smoky incense, not tobacco)
Or Black
Havana (again)
Dzongkha (smoky incnese)
Lonestar Memories (barbecue smoke)
Burning Leaves (what it says on the label)
Idole de Lubin (weird smoke)

+1 on TF Tobacco Vanille. Got a decant coming my way.
Another suggestion is the Tobacco from Odori. While TF TV smells like sweet pipe tobacco, this one smells like freshly rolled cigars. Ones with moist tobacco wrapped together.

I can see that description and you can word it better than I ever could

The only frag with a clearly defined tobacco note that I'm using now is Ava Luxe's Kretek.
Very Valentino - in the silver box. I had once a bottle and it's a non-sweet tobacco scent, as far as I can remember with some smoke.
Original Tabac
Tabarome MI as well as vintage Tabarome
I'm assuming that you want suggestions of fragrances with either tobacco OR smokey notes, but not particular in the same fragrance. Is that true?

As far as tobacco, look no further than Aramis Havana. The mother of all cigar tobacco fragrances. Discontinued, but available online, at a price. But worth it. Has been described as the smell of pre Castro Cuba, with all the decadence intact.

CdG Man 2 is a great smokey fragrance! Smells like a campfire. Great depth and complexity.
Try the classic CH for men for real tobacco fragrance.
D&G PH if you want lighter.
Another vote for these two

Serge Lutens - Fumerie Turque
Tom Ford - Tobbaco Vanille

I am actually testing Fumerie Turque today for the first time and I must say this is wonderful. The longevity of Tobacco Vanille is out of this world. At least 18 hours on me.
I've had people compliment me on it like 15 hours after I put it on.

I'm on a big Nicolai Pour Homme Personal Fragrance Journey at present and so possibly this should be taken with a grain of salt but my anwer would be, uuuumm, Nicolai Pour Homme. Beautifully blended tobacco/incense accord in the drydown. So by no means a tobacco solaflore but a wonderful tobacco accord, and I've been smelling a lot of tobacco frags lately.
For smoke - Annick Goutal Eau du Fier.
I'm right on board with Fumerie Turque and Feuilles de Tabac.. both really great but be slight at hand with the Miller Harris - it's BIG! Cuba by C/S is also really great and has a few minutes of dirty musk there in the first few minutes.. and great bottle!
I'd add:
Something bizarre and unique:
Le Labo Patchouli 24 for the huge campfire smoke opening (as long as you like patchouli of course)
Or for something more mainstream and easily available:
Gucci pour Homme for the smokey character
More Affordable Niche:
Comme des Garcons 2 Man for the white smoke and incense

D&G PH is what got me interested in the tobacco note in the first place! I'll have to check out your other suggestions, thanks!

Thanks all for the suggestions. I have alot of sample hunting to do. By all means though, keep the suggestions coming, no need to stop now :-P

Japan Noir by Tom Ford is extremely smoky.

Tabac Blond by Caron and Cabochard by Gres are both scents marketed to women, that many men own and wear. Both have pronounced tobacco notes, resting atop a chypre base. Give them a try also.
Polo (green) for tobacco and Bvlgari Black for smoke notes.
I'll throw my votes in on the Miller Harris, the Andy Tauer, the Durbano and the Tom Ford...

Also add:

Smalto Full Choke (gunpowder and smoke, which my 8 year-old daughter described as the heat of a hair dryer...)

Diptyque's John Galliano room spray
Polo Green
Creed Bois du Portugal
Guerlain's Vetiver
Creed's Vintage Tabarome
C&S Cuba
More votes for Creed Tabarome Millesime, Vintage tabarome and C&S Cuba.
I'm also looking for something smoky. First let me tell you I hate smoking, I would never smoke myself. The only exceptions are the scent of someone smoking pipe tobacco or of someone just smoked some "light" cigarette with menthol (at least I think so, as I'm no smoker I really have no idea what kind of cigarettes are out there, but some smells "lighter" than others). The smoke should be fresh, "clean" and light. Would any of the above recommendations fit those requirements? Maybe D&G PH?
Irrbloss:

Sounds like you might like Comme des Garcons Parfum. It's like a slightly soapy, "clean" candle smoke. I only use one spray per wearing, because it's quite strong.
Vintage Tab and Hermes Hermessence Ambre Narguile
post #39 of 44
Guerlain Vetiver
Havana
Caron Tabac Blond
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
Montana
Habanita (Beware, it is powdery!!)
Chanel Cuir de Russie
Chanel Cuir de Russie would like to provide my own "ditto" on this frag.

It's smokey/incensey, tobbaco-leather that is very classy yet raw/authentic at the same time... smells of expensive adventure.
I forgot to mention Fracas for Men - this is a terrific scent - smokey with feral undertones.

It's widely unknown and is an inexpensive on-line purchase.

I love it...
Ambre Narguile - furit and nut cake + rich turkish tobacco
Profumum Fumidus - wet ashes + dark vetiver
Odori Tobacco - ornage cavendish pipe tobacco
Domenico Caraceni - rose chypre tobacco
Anyone know of a fragrance that smells like the pipe tobacco "Borkum Riff" (a scandinavian brand)? I usually don't like smoke, but this smells wonderfull and cozy.
I really like Michael for Men by Michael Kors. It doesn't get a lot of play here on basenotes. Tobacco notes usually seem fake and gross to me, but I really like the one in Michael. Judging by the reviews, it wouldn't be one to buy without testing it first though.

It's general makeup is fruit, booze, and tobacco. It always makes me think of an untamed version of John Varvatos for some reason, though the two probably aren't really that related.
