What cologne has the longest intermittent sillage to the wearer?

I think Le Male and The Dreamer are still going in and out at 12 hours on me. Can anything beat that?
That really depends on the wearer's skin chemistry, environment, climate and so forth.

You might want to post these questions in the just starting out section.

I'm asking you or anyone's opinion on sillage. Not overbearing sillage that clears a room or sillage that stays close to the skin, but intermittent sillage. IMO the best kind!

yeah....givenchy gentleman, paco rabanne ph, fahrenheit, ES, GIT, Cool Water, Acie Aluminium , aigner black, bvlgari black, boss no,.1, giivenchy mons. aramis original,, aramis 900, aramis tuscany, Guerlain vetiver(barely), Guerlain vetiver extreme. Calvin, Obsession, versace blue jeans, dior homme. Issey Intense, , Armani EPH, Polo (BLue), Polo (green), minotaure, drakkar(barely), zino davidoff, langs. kourous,, body kouros*(barely), m7 (barely), fahrenheit 32(barely). you can be certin the ones i mention would have a nice drydown, personally and based only on what i use, herbal scents have nice sillage coz the smell organic, i cant find another word to describe, but yeah generallythe fougre type ones have a smoother fade.

* by barely, i mean depending on how mucbh u wear. GIT or cool water leaves behind an overly sweet scent on ur clothes over night. try 5 sprayso fo cool water on ur Tee waer it, sleep in it and wake up still smelling the sillage residue of sweetness. no kidding. GIT is not as sweet tho.

just to name a few. above are the ones im using, only 2-3 are sample decants. I could list a whole lot more that im using that can mambo with Le male. I love le male, and its great it last and drys down to a good sillage for ya.

ps. the longer they last the better for us.

ps.2. silverbuillet has a point, do make use of the active threads coz it'll benefit you even more than isolated answers from myself (imma nosey parker)

Prada Amber lasts 24 hours on me, I bet it would last longer if I didn't shower.

Silverbullet is right tho, coz essentially our body temp and naural skin moisture is what evokes the notes. environmentally, my 125 ml LDIsseys finish withihn 4 mths. weather, esp hot and critically humid ones like mine messes up the scent altogether. you'll be surprise that diff ppl have diff experiences with sillage over th same scent,

I dount he meant anythig offensive. really. run a search, u probn get more than a handful of gurus when it comes to sillage.

Also Silverbullet hiimself has great suggestions on power sillage from more complicated scents. yeah?

wait till u see his collection

now dont scare ppl away with the Aoud aite ;p

case close,

Le Male, Gucci Pour Homme, and GIT are my votes

Lots of frags hang around for days if you artfully allow it to get on some fabric. Inside of the t-shirt when you spray yr chest is a good one if you want longevity and moderate sillage. So it's not just a question of which frags, but also of where you spray 'em. Happy spraying.

Méchant Loup. It is not a loud scent, sometimes I don't smell it on me, but after some hours, it start again to rise up. Very strange...

Terre d´hermes & Guerlain Vetiver also 12 hours and more.

Agreed. And Le Male actually doesn't last on me at all (mainly because I quickly remove myself from its trajectory once sprayed).

To me it's got to be L'air du desert Morrocain. Its one of the only frags I have ever worn that loses little of initial intensity throughout the day. It is never overpowering, but is constantly wafting a beautiful aura all day long. I still smell it lightly after a shower as well, which is quite impressive because I have very dry skin.

Power Sillage Me? If the sillage isn't equal to the USS Carl Vinson in it's first trial runs, it's too close to the skin for me.

I will second Guerlain Vetiver and Terre d'Hermes, and I will add Gendarme.

Edit: I will also add John Varvatos

IMO, intermitent 12 hours sillage = cloying/boring, sometimes nauseating.

Well, I really dislike Le Male, so our tastes don't match. Just forget what I said.

I dont entirely agree with this. Certain frags (i.e. Le Male, Pi) do get cloying and boring. However, this is not the case all the time. For something like Terre de Hermes and LadDM, they give off substantial sillage without ever becoming boring or cloying. It all depends on the frag and the quality of said frag.

Yes, but the original poster said "intermittent sillage", not "substantial sillage".

I see "intermittent" as an ininterrupted blast of one single scent. As I see, only a "monochromatic" scent, with none or little variation from top to base, can give this effect, and Le Male matchs the description (the overpowering vanilla is there since the start).

"Substantial", on the other hand, can give a good sillage, but eventually with some nuance going on. You can smell it 2 hours after applying and 6 hours after, and you will perceive a significant evolution, and the actual sillage may even grow to the end.

So, Terre d'Hermés, to me, is a great one and has substantial sillage, but not what one would call intermittent.

You are absolutely correct! I must have misread the OP's question. I saw sillage and ran with it. My apologies and thanks go out to you.

I agree. I'm not familiar with a fragrance's sillage that comes and goes. It's either there or not When I wear a fragrance and no longer smell it myself, it's either my own olfactory fatigue or poor longevity of the scent itself. Others around me can still smell it even though I may not.
