The one you cannot stand

What fragrance is the one that u dislike the most?
In my case I hate the smell of plasticine it makes me sick to my stomach and the fragrance that always reminds me to plasticine is Le Male Jean Paul Gaultie. It was tragic when it became so popular because I had to undergo many moment of torture having to smell plasticine on many people.
Seems the trend of le male is fading away and I don't have to suffer it anymore but definitely that is the one I really cannot stand

Kouros, without a boudt, and Iceberg Fluid.
Guerlain Vétiver. The tobacco notes make me nauseous.
John Varvatos Vintage. I've never gotten a headache from a fragrance before. Got a sample of this a couple years back and INSTA headache. So bad.
I have two: L'Eau d'Issey and 212 by Carolina Herrera. The latter is probably the worst of the two.

so far , 4 fragrances mentioned here I have used and still use,,,, scary ! You might think you are smelling wonderful and the people around you hating it :-)
Kouros. Leau de issey, 212 and vetiver...
Well then, let me tell you that while I hate L'Eau d'Issey and 212, I love Kouros and Guerlain Vetiver!

Dzing!

The chicken poop note...

Up till yesterday I could have easily said Ava Luxe's Rasa Extreme. The first time I tried it I was assaulted by a diaper-filled compost heap smell that made me wretch and run to wash it off.

After nearly a year I got up the guts to give it a try it again. I put a minuscule amount on... the diapers threatened murkily for the first ten minutes... then slowly a rose note emerged, and the fecal note disappeared to be replaced by a rather robust but quite pleasant musk. It stayed in rose musk mode for a good eight or nine hours before fading to a mild ambery musk warmth. I can still smell it faintly at hour fourteen.

That was my never-ever-oh-dear-god-no fragrance. Now it's in my good books, albeit still in the freak category. Go figure.

I can't say I have any other fragrances I really hate. Honestly, I'd rather have a lot of fragrances I hated than what far too many do - bore me.

Kingdom and Le Male. Uggghhh!
I might get ground up for this one, but I cannot stand the dry down of Polo Blue. smells like kelp? pee?
L'Eau d'Issey, only because it's the only fragrance I've worn that makes me sneeze and gives me headaches...

Don't worry, Polo Blue is crap.
Odeur 53 is the only one that gives me headaches so far.
just can’t stand that nail polish note.
Growing up where I did,I thought I could tolerate a vast array of unpleasant odors, but Comme de Garcons Comme de Garcons and Hascish Homme were 2 frags that had me sprinting for a scrub brush and water. Both are malignant and should be used by our special forces when interrogating prisoners.

Not as bad but equally intolerable is Krizia Moods on my skin.
My standard reply to this thread topic: Diptyque L'Autre. Cumin overload!
Caron pour un Homme. I just dont get it; to me it smells like lavender essence, then vanilla cake batter. Thats the only one I can think of. Nothing else I've smelt yet has truly 'repulsed' me!
Actually - maybe the top notes of Giorgio (womens).
Acqua di Gio. Always has and always will repulse me.
Cannot give one. There are a few on that same bottom level

LeMale, Joop, Guerlain Vetiver, Polo Blue(Lysol), Kouros
post #20 of 77
Burberry Touch. Migraine in a bottle. Too much violet!
Hugo Boss and Angel, I cant stand the plastic notes in either

That truly is very descriptive language. It gave me an image of North Philadelphia on a humid, August afternoon.
KOUROS. simply the worst fragrance in the world.
There are some frags that I really hate, but subsequent sniffings let me discover why other people would like them.

However, Sécrétions Magnifiques is the no-brainer answer.

Actually I agree on this one. Smelt like fly-spray / mosquito repellant.

Drakkar Noir is wretched, and gives me a headache that would take down an elephant.

With some floor wax and gasoline thrown in and left to macerate in a lead pipe for a year.

oh i hate the smell of armani diamonds for women. honestly i gag when someone wears it, male version not as bad yet still disgusting in my opinion. just hate this headache inducing bomb of nastyness.
i wore Beyond Paradise for men this evening and my gf said i smelled great!
she rarely says that about my other 35 frags...

goes to show what constitutes a good/bad smell is so subjective
post #32 of 77
Some fragrances make me cringe at first, but when I revisit them later, they become tolerable. Kouros (own a bottle now), A*Men (still won't buy a bottle but not as vile as before), Bois du Portugal (my first reaction was to throw the test strip away from my nose as possible, now I want a bottle!), and MKK ( I want a full bottle BAAAAD)
Clinique Happy for Men: crushed bug note
Davidoff Good Life: abused plastic fig note

I totally agree there. Its the worst synthetic and foul vanilla smell I've known. I don't understand how this could garner compliments at all!
but maybe its because of the type of people who wear it. They think they are special like if driving a Porsche. Just Hilarious IMO.

Cool Water
Silver Mountain Water
Nicole Miller - smell of red apples makes me want to throw up!!!

My thoughts exactly. My brother used to douse himself with it, and I always got headaches. I hate that juice, and the worst part is, it has impossible longevity!

I think I am quite fortunate: nothing happens to me with scents I don't like. However, I feel a burning sensation on the top of my nostrils when I smell such fragrances. I seriously dislike the latest fads on fragrances.

Now, my wife can react negativley after smelling scents: long time ago I gave her a bottle of Eternity for women. She smelt it and, almost immediately, felt nautious. It later gave her a headache. The bottle was given away to my mother in law.

The point is that I read that Eternity has been signalled as a perfume made with toxic ingredients and that such reactions were not at all uncommon.

I made a search about this topic after reading about toxic ingredients used in the cosmetic industry in a syndicated article originaly from The Economist. The article was about the specialty goods industry. It mentioned that big companies, like LVMH, are seriously studying potential health hazards caused by their products after incidents happening in Russia. It seems someone bathed herself in perfume and, well, died.

So, beware: just do not bathe in perfume!

Oh for fox' sakes this is funny! 'Puckered' no less! Butt you've got a point there, I must agree.

Gold for Men by Amouage is one of the few fragrances I actually had to scrub off of me. More recently, Cruel Intentions by By Kilian almost came close to being washed off also. But the one that had the most traumatic effect on me was Secretions Magnifiques by ELDO. Certain notes that are in SM, I smell them in other fragrances (good fragrances) and from that point on I can't wear the fragrance because I associate it with SM.
Secretion Magnifiques, for sure!!! I hate it!!!

Joop!

Benetton Cold

Very true! And to be honest, some things I find quite vile smell gorgeous on other people too! I should have been clear and said on my skin it's just awful!

Yup, I bought a bottle of it ( my second ever fragrance). I hate myself for buying it and to this day cannot forgive myself.

I will add 212 Men ( Herrera) to my list as well. Disgusting and cloying.

i forgot to say quorum, i know its a classic but dont see why. i mean the only place i imagine a being to wear this is in a castle while they polish there bow and arrow. with 1 spray is as this stuff is strong. yet thats just on me and my dad, skins different i supopose. but it would have to be a new fragrance for me to even consider not hating this smell. theres quite alot i dont like actually, very few i like. like be delicous for men is nice yet strong even with 2 sprays. i sprayed my baby cousin today whos 2 as we went to walmart and the sillage was incredible. like women were saying, mmm your baby smells great. hes like 2 ft tall, so yeah a little reccomendation for you people looking for a fruity strong smell with some serious sillage. thats the end of that story, to sum up, i cannot stand quorum.

Another vote for - or rather against - Le Male. It's still worn, usually generously to boot, very widely here - mostly by young men trying way too hard to impress. It's the one frag that manages to smell nastier to me each time I encounter it.

Orange Spice is my least favorite Creed, but on me it smells nothing like Kouros.

Kouros
Terre d'hermes
chanel no 5
Versace l'Homme.
Joop! Homme is my oldest nemesis.

Followed closely by Le Male, Pi, the Dreamer.

Not far behind are Dolce and Gabanna pour homme and the One.

Vanilla, obviously, doesn't work for me.

Secretions Magnifique is the niche stinker - like burning plastic.

But I love Kouros.
Pretty much anything with "Blue" in the name, or that comes in a blue bottle, or when the juice is blue.
I love Le Male but I don't wear it or smell it as much these days. No perfume gives me a headache but GV makes me feel like there's too much insect repellent in the room.
Kouros is a real stinker!!!!!!!!!!! freaking g-ross
