L'eau d'Issey is a modern Classic.

Whilst Boucheron is an excellent scent, L'eau d'Issey really ought to be owned and adored at least once in a man's life.

Any similarities would have to be extremely tenuous, the only link to my nose is the citrus opening which, in the case of Issey, is japanese grapefruit. Beyond that they are two entirely different fragrances.
...with one exception, they are both exquisite beyond description! With a gun held to my head, I'd have to go with Issey and it's waterlilies.

Boucheron may suit the tastes of many Basenoters, but I think L'Ed'I has been more influential.

depends on your agenda of usage



if you are wearing it around chicks...then Miyake...nothing spells "fresh fun" like miyake
.....white shirt blue jeans...and a hint of miyake is all you need around college going bimbos


but if you are dressed in business suits and are sitting in a meeting rubbing shoulders with important snobs then Boucheron is THE stuff ....bottled class ...

I am yet to finish my first bottle of miyake...but I already on my second bottle of Boucheron..

You should check out Iskander by Parfum d'Empire. I like it better than both. Used to own Issey until I came to find it too sharp and "synthetic" smelling for me.

Issey is quite nice IMO. I even asked a friend of my friend about it. I caught a whiff from him and had to ask what it was. That day was hot and that floral fresh tone of it freshened everything up. The sillage was great too.

I have bought Boucheron blindly and don't think it smells that formal as many basenoters said. I haven't given it a full wear yet but I'm sure it won't be a hit among chicks.

And to choose one, it's gotta be Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey.

I have no Idea of why many BNers think that Boucheron and Jaipur are particularly formal. You guys can do much better

Having been told it's very formal I did hesitate to buy it blindly for so long a time. Until last month, I thought it could probably work very well on me since in the near future I will have to meet many people for business purpose, and so I did give it a try. Contrary to the reviews, I found it nice and as easy to wear as Caron The Third Man. It smells like a classic scent for sure, and to me, it's subtle enough for everyday wear.

Talking about Jaipur, I think it's a bit more luxurious than the Boucheron due to the strong powdery vanille note, which lasts more than 12 hours on me. Jaipur is good for romantic wear and a very special night out, whilst Boucheron is for business meeting, and even for relaxing day if you dress nicely enough.

Back to the question, I think no comment could matter much since this is very subjective. Boucheron is, to me, for those who lean towards classical music and partly on a conservative side, and Issey for those into jazz, pop, R&B, and, New Age musics.

Just my 2 Baht anyway

Turn it around, Boucheron is a classic that anyone should have smelled on once in his life. Projects great maturity / class. L'eau D'Issey might be good for a summer on the beach for me, but never bottleworthy.
