My bottle of Bulgari PH is almost empty, and I'm thinking of buying either Prada Infusion d'Homme or Infusion d'Iris as its replacement. I'm looking for a light wear-it-to-your-parents-in-law scent, the kind that Bulgari PH is, and I find the two Pradas to be.

But I'm torn. I do like Infusion d'Iris but also find it a tad feminine. And to be honest, I love the first 15 minutes of Infusion d'Homme when the cool iris is strong but find the soapy smell boring after that period.

I already own Dior Homme, btw. Basenotes, help me.

Most definitely get this amazing scent ! its my sotd every day!!! lol . so clean and comforting this is the way to go . at first its a little powdery, but just let it marinate and bam ! so good ! the bath products are amazing too. the shower gel smells just like the fragrance . very clean and soapy. a definite winner

I bought IdI a few weeks ago, and I'm thinking that perhaps I should have gone with the IdH instead. As you said, IdI is a bit floral, and I recall IdH having more woodsy notes to it, which would be more to my liking. I didn't have the opportunity to actually test IdH on skin, however (only smelled it on a test strip), so I'm not the best judge.

To be honest, I prefer Bois d'Iris over both Pradas and was hoping the Nieman's where I purchased IdI would carry it, but no such luck.

Prada can say whatever they want. Infusion d'Iris is a unisex fragrance. I wear it and love it.

And there lies the dilemma: Infusion d' Iris is probably the better frag overall but it is a tad too floral for me. I actually like the soapy dry-down of IdH.

Personally I'd go with Infusion d'Homme

Why not both? the only reason me and IdI have 'parted ways' is because it'll be strange if my brothers girlfriend wears the same fragrance as me.

I prefer Infusion d'Homme infinitely (for myself); but don't let anyone put you off Infusion d'Iris if that's what you like better.

Yes, I think you're right in saying IdI is the better overall fragrance (as if one could rank fragrance). That's why I was swayed to buy IdI - at that moment in time...

I d'Homme is my favorite designer fragrance in recent years; gets my vote

I prefer Id'I--I think it holds together better as a composition. However, there is so much overlap between the two, so if you prefer the more masculine edge of Id'H, then go for it.

lol...

Love the "I'm a guy" intro...

I think that Infusion d'iris is the better fragrance but, agree with the idea of having and using both. Why be limited? Exercise your right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

For casual wear I'd go with IdH, although I think that Prada Amber is better than both of them, and is still wearable in a casual manner. Not sure if you've tested it - if you have and disliked it you can ignore this post - but I'd definitely recommend sampling it if you haven't. Try to get a sample of all three and wear them on the skin for a few days. The choice of which will work best for you will become clear.

I find Amber to start out more feminine than even IdI, but it is richer and deeper and ends up being more masculine than IdI and as masculine as IdH although with more depth and complexity in the drydown.

Thanks for your input people. Suffice to say, I'd like to own both but as a student my resources are limited. They have quite some overlap but differ in execution, and that's why I can't afford to own both.

I haven't tested Amber yet - can't seem to find it in Holland.

And I'm having some trouble finding sample vials of IdI and IdH, but will definitely need to wear them longer to make a decision.

I'm a gay: Prada Infusion d'Iris or D'homme ----> D'Iris

I like d'Iris, but I love d'Homme. d'Iris gets better as it drys down, but I love neroli, and it smells amazing to me in d'Homme.

something about d'iris annoys me.
d'homme is more soothing and...."perfect"

or why not buy both? AND bvlgari PH?

they are all good

Infusion d'Homme definitely. I blind bought it and I didn't like it very much at first, but then it really started to grow on me. Now it's one of my top ten.

Prada Amber can be found just about anywhere in Holland (Bijenkorf, Douglas, Ici Paris), but it's normally called Prada Man. Watch for the purple bottle

I tried Amber a few times in the store, on skin and paper. Liked the longevity, but not the scent. Tried d'Homme when it came out. I didn't like the soapiness, but it seemed closer to something I did like. Still not convinced to buy it.

Today I tried d'Iris in a new store which displays everything unisex, by maker. I finally found the Prada I was looking for! Good blend, holds together, no "soap" like d'Homme, and doesn't smell "humid" like Amber.

This is a nice scent. Less feminine than all the traditional crossover classics like Mitsouko, IMO. It's about where most male rose scents fall - or maybe even more masculine than that. (Turin thinks it smells masculine, although I'd go 2.5 stars versus his 2. He went 2 stars on Amber, and I'm betting will do the same on d'Homme). Good longevity, too. I'm kind of surprised about the longevity, given how it starts out fairly light.

Prada synthetic iris sport cologne. Not bad. But I like Bois d'Iris better.

I sampled IdI and didn't care for it. Threw away the sample.

IdH is now my signature scent. I own the edt and aftershave, and intend to buy the soap and deodorant (for occasional use). It is truly the gentleman's iris, all elegance and understatment. Fresh in the way a classic edc is fresh, yet enriched with buttery iris and smoky benzoin. Beautiful. This is the Chanel No. 5 of masculine fragrance.

i thought Bvlgari PH was one of the most nauseating scents i've ever owned...i used to have a bottle, sold it a loooong time ago to someone on here.....

the Prada Iris stuff is just as nauseating, if not more nauseating!

i dunno what to tell you, mate.......find some new scents maybe?

Have you tried Hiris by Hermes? Nice Iris for "at home" or "at the in-law's".
