Happy Birthday, Mostapha!! And Happy Birthday, denisehollings!

So you can fly over bus stops, Mostapha. . . .

Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle
Oh my. This one is pungent. It's a good thing I didn't overdo it.

Many Happy Returns to Mostapha and denise!

I'm aglow in the great Opium. There is a thread dedicated to it on POL, and reading that yesterday made me long for it. I wore it last night and again this morning. It is the edt version I have chosen for my long day at work, and I have learned to prefer this above the edp, though both are sublime.

Happy birthday!

Sampling Amour de Cacao on this very rainy day, I got into the office looking like a drowned cat and changed into some spare dry clothes at work. Not a happy day.

Kul sana wa inta (it is "inti" in Egypt, unlike the rest of the world?) tayyeb, dear Mostapha! Oh, them sweet times in Egypt.... The world was younger and the cleaner those days....

Martine Micallef Black Sea for me today, had just 3 hours of sleep at night, and it is going to be a long day at work again.

ComDiva, I think you are right about OC and the "right"/"wrong" preferences for him. What if he is still undecided? I know some people can be.

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS, GUYS!!!!

Semi-sadness for a friend whose mother died - essentially of alcoholism, via strokes and the body shutting down. Funeral's this afternoon...it's a warm, drizzly day....

Ergo....

(Gotta find a better pic - that's Guet Apens, SMM)

Happy birthday, Mostapha! Here's something to go with those wonderful cakes:

Chaya, I love you back. That is all.

Sotd is Kenzo Amour le Parfum
Notes: incense, frangipani, cherry blossom, thanaka wood, rice steam, vanilla, patchouli, benzoin, amber

Happy Friday, everyone!

Happiest of Birthdays, Mostapha and Denise !

Lian, you DO smell good..make sure no one BITES you !
Poor kittykat !

Twolfie- don't you smell divine- don't you hate those long days that follow sleepless nights ?
Hang in there, my dears.

Went to bed in KM Gourmnandises, very jammy and rosy.
Thinking more along the lines of Chypre Rouge...
But, if I could find Kenzo Amour, le Parfum...I'd wear THAT...
Yes, me love you, too, hon.

Tommi- how sad !
The cosmos is in a whirlwind, these days; I've heard several more of these sorts of events, in the past few days.
Maybe, it's that tiome of the year when people 'let go'...
[That doesn't explain gunshot murders, etc.]

Make it a good day, my darlings.
I send you all big hugs.
Decided on wearing Narcisse Noir today.

That's too coincidental taolady, I was thinking of Guet Apens and posted a pic of the bottle in the "prettiest bottle" thread at about the same time you posted your SOTD.

Happy B day to all who are celebrating today!

(((Hugs))) to Lian (hope you're dry by now), and to Taolady today.

I'm wearing Jasmin de Nuit by The Different Company on this weird, foggy morning.

Have a good Friday, everybody.

Happy Birthday to Mostapha and denisehollings!!!!

Heading out to a conference for the next few days so it is travel day today.
I am wearing:

Ulrich Lang Anvers

This is another of those jam-packed pyramids but unlike some of the ones I've tried recently which hold together and become something more. Anvers has a few off notes in an otherwise nice fragrance. In what has become an unintentional theme this week the top is citrusy with an herbal background centered on my friend sage. Usually the herbal contrast makes for a nice start but here it doesn't seem to come together as much as it seems like it should. The heart is all floral with jamine being the main player. There is a dollop of honey to sweeten the proceedings. The base has an excellent mix of amber, leather and oakmoss but there is a fruity hint that again doesn't work as well as it should for me and becomes a distraction instead of a compliment.
Have a great Friday everyone.

Happy Birthdays, Mostapha and Denise!

Today I am sampling...

By Kilian Prelude to Love (very pretty not quite citrus)
PG Coze (sorry Lizzie_J - am not liking this one bit - way too manly - so I will close the lid of this particular antique chest)
PG L'Ombre Fauve (vaguely reminds me of Jicky, but a tolerable version - most curious!)
L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme (courtesy of the unstintingly generous Taolady! I am reminding myself how much I like it on me ie not too manly!)

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOSTAPHA AND DENISE!!!

Big hugs to all who need 'em, and especially to Lian, Tao, and Chaya. But heck, we ALL need a good hug, in my opinion. Hug someone who doesn't expect it today (just don't get yourself charged with harrassment!)

I'm reveling in more incense today (probably my favorite note, when all's said and done), thanks to dear Lady in Black , who's responsible for today's choice: Creations Mathias Eau de Narguile. Not entirely sure what all the notes are, but to my nose it's gorgeous floral/sweet incense. Love, love, love this one.
Ah, CD- you must smell divine !

SMM- safe travels, honey.
I need to send you a photo of Uli and me, in flagrante delicto- at Aedes.
Another man I cheated on you with..
[What crappy grammar I have ! Yuck !]
The man is a sweetie; but his scents don't work for me, alas...

This is really sweet of you I am really touched by all your nice wishes. Thank you, wonderful people!

Happy Birthday to all! And happy unbirthday to everyone else, I suppose.

Woohoo! Tauer's samples arrived (quick!) and he threw in an extra one, so generous.
Reveling in L'Air du Desert Marocain now, and boy is it pretty. Arid, dusty in a way that I can't decide is most reminiscent of an ancient bookcase or a desert, and incensy. It's gorg. And this is only the first one I'm trying! My credit card had better hide itself.

Happy birthday Mostapha and denise! I am celebrating with Mostapha in Dior Homme (thanks to lushsoup!!!)

I am glad I did not write this one off the first time I wore it many months ago. It is a gorgeous iris fougere, and is certainly a unisex fragrance. Enjoy the day, all!

Best wishes to our birthday celebrants!

I was craving ORGANZA INDECENCE this morning. I think this one is fast becoming my wear anywhere default scent.

Have a great Friday everyone!

Happy birthday Mostapha and Denise - and you have the whole weekend to have fun!
Hugs to Lian, Tao, Chaya and Ines - please tell us when it's 'dark all day' day - I found it fascinating when you told us about it last year. Have you got snow on the ground there yet?

The Small One and I are both in Lolita Lempicka L today, because it's very nice and, more importantly, because The Small One really likes the bottle.

Happy Friday, all.

Kenzo Indian Holi. I smell divine. I purchased this earlier this year shortly after it was released but never bothered to wear it until today. Why did I allow this glorious fragrance to sit on my shelf for so long without being used? I've already received two compliments on it since arriving at the office.
Continuing the Men's niche test-o-rama: Tam Dao.

Great choice for today. It really is a comforting scent, like that prefect hug from a close friend that goes on just as long as you need it.

Here in my area, everyone is freaking out. I now have 6 friends who have been laid off in 2 weeks- one of which is getting married tomorrow. These are folks with advanced degrees in tech and science fields who have gone from making 100k-ish to zero.

Tonight I will watch Salaam Bombay again. Tomorrow on the way to the wedding, I will stop at my local family displacement shelter and drop off extra clothes and blankets.

Oh dear - that was a ramble...back to the fragrance

The creamy quality of heart notes smell familiar. I can't tell whether it's because the ingredients are soooo good or is it a signature of a particular nose. Anyone know who the nose is?

I think I am in love. This may be FBW for me but part of me can't justify it. I may buy a large decant from someone so I know the money is going to an individual who needs it.

Craziness with work has kept me away for a day (that's a very long time not to be here in BN heaven!). At last, a deep breath ... and I'm smelling Q (Quercus) from Roxana Illuminated Perfume, courtesy of the extra-courteous and sweet BlackCat (cheek , other cheek , and back again ). Mmmm, natural woody scent with nice sillage. Don't know that I'd have named it "oak"--still have to a side-by-side with some firewood to pull out that note, although it's the leaves that were tinctured, along with other wood and resin ingredients.

It's Friday, I say we grab those birthday kids (happy birthday you two!) and start partying! Sit next to me, Alisa, we'll share something big and frosty.

Chaya Don't you mean "in FRAGRANTE delicto?"

Happy Birthday to Mostapha and Denise!

Have a good evening, everybody.

Monyette Paris. It is muggy here. I wilt.

There is a story:

Last night I drank too much, and it wasn't the casual act the shrug of the statement implies. It was a deliberate act born of unease. And after I drank too much, I lay down and fell asleep, and half an hour later I woke up feeling the mighty quiver of wheat and rye.

I was hot, so I got up and changed from a sweatshirt into a t-shirt, and that t-shirt carried the smell of a perfume I could not place but clearly had worn in embarrassing quantity. What was it, I wondered, because I never wanted to wear it again. It had both floral and detergent qualities and a sharpness that poked behind my eyes; if one could bottle a demon this would be it, and not the vodka. I lay back down and tried to run through a list of scents I had worn recently, but I couldn't place it. Certainly it wasn't La Chasse or Heure Exquise or Trouble or Mitsouko; it had a terrible temperament and I can only imagine the stinking clouds of the stuff I must have been billowing at some forgotten time. I tore the shirt off as a person who is freezing to death thinks he is too hot and must rip madly at his garments.

There were aldehydes involved.

This morning, much worse for wear or probably better stated as simply "worn," I thought I smelled the phantom of it, and it smelled of chocolate and patchouli, or something sweet and patchouli, even though I dared to smell the shirt again and deny that it was anything other than a cheap white floral. But chocolate and patchouli stayed in my mind and thinking about the number of foody patchouli scents I have and enjoy made me reel all over again.

I spent the whole day hoping to smell nothing, not even an apple that I cut up for my dog. Smell was magnified into a beast now, an amorphous, suffocating beast that only I could sense.

But I'm intrepid (and do not like to go into the night without scent), so I dabbed on some Monyette. I can tell it will be a slow reintroduction into the world of perfume, taken one drop at a time.
So did you ever identify the choco-patchouli culprit? I'm agog!

Condolences to your friend, and yourself, Taolady. Such a painful loss.

Not the best of days today but at least I'm glad I chose Patchouli Antique.
Many thanks for the condolences darling peeps...only met the woman a couple of times. Funny, talented (she painted)...the life of the party and always slightly drunk. "But for the grace of God go I...."

For the evening - from a sample...NM's Fetish.......I'm getting some rosewood and maybe myrrh and a little patch. Nice - but it vanishes almost instantly. Rare with NMs....

Paying birthday tributes to Mostapha and Denisehollings, and sending condolences to Taolady. I wore Aromatics Elixir for the first time in over a year. I sprayed judiciously and am loving the results.
Just came back from a conference myself where I had NO time to come and visit.

Ormonde Jayne Tolu - the only perfume I've worn since Tuesday.

A great experience just getting to know 1 perfume. And this was a good choice. A bit rosy, a bit powdery, great creaminess.

And I get to finally meet ScentBro next week :bounce:
