Christian Dior
Jules
(1980)

Head Notes: Artemisia, Bergamot oil, Cumin, Green Note, Laurel, Lavender, Wormwood
Heart Notes: Basil Oil, Carnation, Cedarwood Oil, Cyclamen, Jasmin, Rose, Sandal
Back Notes: Amber, Castoreum, Fir, Leather, Moss, Musk, Oilbanum, Tonka
One of Dior's great men's scents. Relatively unknown for a while, it dropped below the radar until Dior began to offer it more widely for sale again in the U. S. a couple of years ago. This is a woody, leather (and tobacco?) scent with some unusual green notes in the top. Florals in the heart are kept in low profile by the more assertive notes, but are definitely there and eventually revealed for what they are. The base is woody, mossy, leather, a touch of oriental, and the impression of tobacco. I suspect this is a scent made to please a man. Don't think it would appeal much to many women, though they might grudgingly tolerate on a man they really liked...

Guerlain Homme, a fragrance that has drawn its fair share of knockers. I just don't know how anyone could not like this! I just got home from work and I can still detect it, although I just obliterated it with a few spritzes of CW. Why? Because I felt like it

From a decant from ScentMother I am starting my week off in:

Michael Storer Winter Star

To quote the lovely Quarry it's nice but my socks are still quite snugly on my feet. It is a heady brew to be sure and it is interesting and full of uncommon notes. The top starts with a musky woody blast. The woody note is balsam and it really comes across as it leads to a spicy floral heart before the musk in the base returns. This is one where, on me, the criticism that Dans Tes Bras is this abstract piece of perfumery that you wouldn't want to wear applies to Winter Star. This is high-wire perfumery that for some is going to be a thrill ride and for some, and sadly me, you're going to fall off and hit the safety net.
Have a Marvelous Monday everyone.

Like TaoLady, I have been up since about 2:30A. I got beeped twice and then couldn't go back to sleep, so I just dressed and came on into work. Sigh. At least I smell wonderful in Chergui.

Creed, Royal English Leather

Bergamot, Mandarin
Jasmine
Russian Leather, Oakmoss

It remains my favorite leather and one of my best-loved perfumes. Gentle fruit, sweet floral orientals, creamy leather notes. A scent to sit back & relax (as well as look incredibly sophisticated) in, like a big, cumfy club chair.
