Profumum Santalum versus Santal Noble

I found Profumum Santalum to be a linear, yet pretty terrific sandalwood scent. The cost however is prohibitive and probably why I don't hear more about it on the board.

Cost differential aside, which one do you think is better?

I'd be inclined to say Profumum Santalum, but that's only because I've recently bought me some. However the vintage Santal Noble is quite a nice herbaceous scent I've read.

I have the reformulated Santal Noble.....and it's almost as good as the original. I recently sample/wore the Profumum and it's a little difficult to tell from one wearing in spite of my truly liking it.

It's different from Santal Noble and much more linear, but I think I like it better. Hard to tell..

I'm yet to sample Santal Noble, maybe one of these days i'll get around to doing it.

Profumum has a sort of understated luxury and a theme attached to it. the quality of the ingredients too make it a class apart. Profumums tend to have minimal set of ingredients, hence may smell linear, but, the progressions are very definite and *crystal* clear. it feels as if one coudl *touch* the aroma.

MPG Santal Noble on other hand, is again a classic. i haven't come across a scent which exudes the *olfactory image* of sandalwood bark the way Santal Noble does...the blend is just top notch and the progressions - exciting.

you have put forth two classics, one of the best in it's genre, and im sure you know the answer already....you'll end up with both

Lucky guy! I have a dab (from my second sample) on my wrist - as I write . I've been sitting on the fence with this one for a while. PS is spicier, but done in a way most elegant!

Don't even say that. I am easily moved to buy stuff I have no business buying.

Santalum is more linear than Santal Noble so score one for Noble, but when it comes to sandalwood content and quality, Santalum hands Santal Noble its cedary cedar chest innards.

This sounds like it's worth trading-up for.

I agree. Santalum has that cinnamon/myrrh underbelly, that really enhances the sandalwood nicely. Santal Noble, though nice, doesn't have this.
