Le Labo Gaiac 10 (2008)
Annick Menardo
Notes: Olibanum, Gaiac Wood, Cedar Abs, Musc

Le Labo does magic for Gaiac wood in the same way they did for rose in Rose 31.
Upon application I get a blast of cedar layered over musk with a trace of incense.
Sniffing a few hours later it's a mix of musc and what I assume is Gaiac wood. It's like cedar but less dry.
This is a skin scent, but the sillage isn't poor either. If you've ever tried C16 by Indult the musc (there are supposedly 4 different types in this) is in a similar vein.
Longevity seems so be excellent so far. And this isn't a skanky scent like MKK.

So here's the thing guys - if you like rich, spicy oriental fragrances try this expirement: Test out some of the masculines that are so popular here on BN like JHL, Egoiste or even Jubilation XXV.

Then, if you're up for it, test my SOTD today which is:

Opium by YSL.

NOT Opium Pour Homme. Opium, the YSL scent marketed to women.

The Eau de Toilette version, I am wearing today is outstanding. The scent warms up in cool weather and adds a comforting touch of cinnamon, resins and very light florals. There is no candied sweetness in this scent (like many women's scents being released these days) and a little goes a long way.

Of course, I know that many men don't wear this scent due to the olfactory associations they have with women they know, who wore this scent. I personally don't have to worry about that. I did try the Eau de Parfum, before the EdT, and found it too aldehyde prominent. The EdT is now my favorite. I still have samples of the SdP and the parfum to test, but for now the affordable, accessible and oh-so-easy-to-wear EdT has sufficiently impressed me.

Thanks shadesofbleu, for the sample!

Clive Christian X for Men

From a new 3 x10ml sample collection that my wife gifted me with this morning for my birthday! I would never have purchased this for myself, but I am reminded that X for Men is one of my favorite scents in the universe!

At 8 AM my SOTD was Gucci Pour Homme but by 10 AM I got bored with it and layered it with two shots of Amouage Jubilation XXV. The result is very agreeable..
