What is your comfort scent?

Thread Starter
One of the reasons I like perfumes so much is that they can have quite a significant effect on how you feel. Perhaps there are two broad categories here. First, some perfumes just fit how you already feel--they complement your mood. But, second, other perfumes can lift you out of a mood you are in to put you in another mood. They can energize you or comfort you. Perhaps in this respect, perfumes are very much like music. Some music complements how you feel--other music has the power to put you in another state of mind.

Comfort scents seem to fall in the second category, I'd think. They are there for you when you are depressed, cold, lonely, confused.

What are your comfort scents?

Just to start the discussion, mine are:
Chene--Serge Lutens
Avignon--Comme des Garcons
Incense Rose--Andy Tauer
Piper Negrum--Villoresi

Encre Noire. My ultimate comfort scent.
d'Orsay Arome 3
Cacharel ph
Tremlett Black Tie
Creed Baie de Genievre
Acqua di Parma Colonia
Villoresi Incensi
Penhaligon's Castile
Bois 1920 Sandalo e Thé
L'Occitane Vetyver
Dominguez Vetiver hombre

All of these, regardless how different in style they are, just feel (not smell !) like a cumfy pair of old (very fine handmade Cordovan ) shoes on me. I feel utterly at one with them and with myself wearing them, as far as the world around me will permit.

My ultimate comfort scent is Spirituese Double Vanille. If I know I'm going to have a bad day, I love to envelope myself in that gorgeous vanilla aroma.

Serge Noire by Serge Lutens
Jubilation XXV by Amouage
Shalimar (Eau de Cologne) by Guerlain

When things get a little crazy, Sables by Annick Goutal seems to get it done for me.

Relaxing/Comforting: Jour de Fête
Invigorating: Moroccan Mint Tea
Emboldening: L'Air du Désert

Perhaps only the first would qualify as a comfort scent, but sometimes I can't afford to indulge in being in an off mood. So depending on my tasks for the day, any of those may be very fit for those melancholy moods.

I'll second Flying Lotus - I find CDG2 very familiar and comforting. It's odd because I just started using it a few months ago.

Rive Gauche has a similar effect on me - in a different way, of course.

Definitely Burberry London. Mmm.

Any high quality niche oriental is comforting to me. L'air du Desert Marocain and Musc Ravageur are comforting. Also, Tam Dao is very comforting to me with its simple wood note.

Blue Amber for me.

Vol de Nuit I think.

Sometimes, I prefer no perfume at all. It's a bit like being alone.

Guerlain Vetiver
Rive Gauche

Tam Dao: I have an emotional connection with that one.
Ormonde Man currently tops my list as the ultimate comfort scent.

I also noticed that many vetiver-based fragrances give me a sense of well-being. I am particularly fond of Vettiveru from CdG, which I find to be very uplifting.

When warmth is the goal an older bottle of Burberry London or an even older bottle of Burberry Man.
When I need some help getting up after I've fallen down it's time Costume National Scent Intense.

I suppose I have a few. Each for a slightly different need. They aren't necessarily my "go to" frags but they are the comfort frags.

Oh wow - forgot about that one. What a wonderful fragrance, I have a metal mini in my bathroom cabinet and I forget about it.

I remember the first time I did a 'little white pill on the dance floor' (wink, wink) many years ago - I was wearing Om. Talk about olfactory associations!

Scents for when one is depressed, cold, lonely, confused?

I don't have any such scents. This idea doesn't stike any chord with me.
