Any good ideas for storing/organizing samples?

I would like to find or make something attractive for storing samples. I have heard of people using "ammo" cases....but I would prefer something I can keep on my dresser.

I guess I could use a lipstick organizer (Container Store has an attractive bamboo one) but the "slots" are a little big.

I think I'll have to make something?

May I invite you to visit my thread and see how I solved this problem for my husband and me?

Others have posted what they did with the idea, including a very nice chest suitable for the dresser top.

They're not very pretty, but they do the job The front trays are empty ammo holders and the back one is a foam pencil holder from Office Depot. I know you don't like ammo trays, but maybe you could paint them or glue some lace around them.
