Holy Grail Layering Combinations?

Do you have two fragrances that you love, but find together they create a fragrance you love even more?

I've found this with Ava Luxe's Kretek and CdG Original. Kretek adds warmth and depth and CdG adds sweetness and complexity... the two together create my holy grail clove fragrance.

What are your fragrance soulmates?

I like layering Gucci Pour Homme with Amouage Jubilation XXV. The PH's dry cedary woodiness compliments XXV's sweetish incense and the overall effect is very enjoyable. It's like turning on a subwoofer in your sound system while listening your favourite tune.

Black Aoud by Montale and Avignon by Comme des Garcons

Kiehl's Original Musk and Jules (sorry, purists): Jules erases Kiehl's initial flowery notes, and at the same time musk / leather notes become more prominent.

No. 88 over Avignon- Highlights the incense perfectly
Terre de Hermes over Vetiver Oriental- botth felt lacking, but together they are tremendous
Passage de E'nfer over Avignon- Dry's out some of Passages' floral sweetness.

Layering can be fun, but most of the time I prefer to wear the scent as it was created.

Axe Instinct (non-sweet leather and spices after shave) and Burberry Brit go well together.

I layer Hermes Hiris with Arpege Pour Homme. Works really well.

Caraceni shampoo and body wash followed by C&S No.88 cologne

Caron Yatagan with SL Musc Khoublai Khan - Yep, animalic overload, but with other-worldy accords. always attracts questions. Good questions.

I can remember my Grandmother saying that "layering" (mixing or applying different scents) was an act of blatant ignorance and a complete disrespect to the perfumist who designed the perfume.

BTW, she would be 109 years old in 2009.

I LOVE layering Yatagan with Pour un Homme.

Black Vetyver Cafe with a touch of Sel de Vetiver. I call it Spectral Vetiver.

Concentre D'Orange Verte mixed 2/1 to Terre D'Hermes
Excellent.

In a small atomizer, for cold weather, I mix:
1 part Bois Du Portugal
3 parts Green Irish Tweed
4 parts Original Vetiver

Sometimes for warm weather:
1 part Silver Mountain Water
1 Part Original Vetiver
2 parts Millesime Imperial

That sounds like a potent mixture. I'll give it a try.

A combination I like is Live Jazz over Aqua Allegoria Mentafollia. Mint tea with lemon meringue.

Almost anything floral seems to fit nicely into the florally challenged Un Jardin en Méditerranée. My first encounter with this was accidental, after a skipped shower. For the floral, I've used Kelly Calèche and Lady Vengeance, but by far the best was Jasmin de Nuit. I felt like it was surprisingly better than either alone (and I love them both).

I like Jicky mixed with Jardins de Bagatelle.

If you like the soapy barber shop smell, I really like Gaultier's Le Male with Prada's Amber Pour Homme. Powdery, soapy, and clean smelling. I'm in college and I love this for the winter because it's clean and warm smelling. A great balance between the two.

I've been experimenting a little with layering the sharp grapefruit-heavy Ermenegildo Zegna Z Zegna Extreme over fragrances that are either smoky or somewhat bitter. It seems to give them a bit of a "lift". So far, I've tried it with Parfum d'Empire Fougère Bengale and L'Artisan Parfumeur Tea For Two. Both were very interesting combinations, complicated. I'll probably try Gucci Pour Homme next.

Kiehl's musk with Bvulgari Black.

I don't usually layer. But I tested a layering combination recently that another BNer recommended:

Kouros + Kiehl's Original Musk - I really liked it!

I don't layer very often, so far I've done

Kiehl's Musk + Yatagan
Kouros + Jovan Andron (That was a lot of civet! )

I've never layered and don't think I ever will. First of all, I have a very reduced number of scents to experiment with various combinations, but also, I like to enjoy scents as they are.
Nevertheless, it might be fun, so do it, guys

Yes, I second this combination.

What do you do when you want to mix 2 fragances, for example? Do you Decant the 2 fragances separately and then put both in the same vial or spray? No matter the order? It is necesary shaking the mix?

I am totally NEW...I dont have idea....

Some people mix... I usually just put one on after the other.

Yatagan + Bois du Portugal. Oh, yeah!

C&S #88 with Voleur de Roses.

Whenever I wear 88, I think "I wish this had a bit more patchouli", and when I wear VdR, it's "I wish this had more rose". Add the two together and voila - Problem Solved!

Castile + Infusion D´Iris: Neroli, roses, musk, benzoin, iris... a bit powdery, floral, a delight and a delicious soapy scent to me
