Dogs rub & roll to wear perfume (ongoing series of video links)

I think this belongs in the female forum--after all, the dog's name is Clementine.

That is adorable! She knew which scent strip she wanted, too.
Clementine! Love her name. That was so cute, Quarry. I see her preference is Euphoria. The lady knows what she likes.
Awesome! I wish my dogs would do that with perfume instead of...less savoury matter.
LOL too funny.
I love her! I wish my dogs would do that.

An interspecific perfume community! I adore Clementine! So she chose Euphoria!

Yes, Clementine, you smell pretty

Now that is a good dog.

I remember a CNN clip I watched 3-4 years ago about some felines having a similar reaction to a synthetic civet based perfume

ROFL.
Really LOL.
Clemmie was so intense. She really honed in on that page.
And applied it!
And then she wagged.
Precious, just precious.

I love this. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to share it with my kids (we have three dogs who are not nearly as chic as Clementine)!!

Clementine totally gets it.

THESE VIDS ARE STORED AT VEOH, SO THEY DON'T EMBED LIKE YOUTUBE VIDS DO.

Apparently, Clementine isn't the only smartie. Here's a black lab who likes ... hmmm, can't make out the brand.

The attraction is not breed dependent. Poodle Chloe understands.

How can I get my dog to do this? Yesterday I offered her the opportunity, but she just doesn't "get it," as Lush so aptly put it.

And dogs have PREFERENCES! Check out Ethan here who likes men's colognes but not women's. Be sure you have the music turned on, Ethan's into rap.

Now I feel better.
If dogs, with some of nature's best noses, like perfume, well, then, I'm not so absurd, am I?

I offered a Jessica Simpson Fancy strip from a mag to both dogs today. The doxie sniffed and walked off, totally uninterested, and the beaglexspaniel cowered and put her ears back. Not J Simpson fans, then.

i was at my sister's this last weekend and her cat jumped in my lap. this surprised me because the cat is not very affectionate. she began rubbing against me so i tried to pet her. she did not like that and began to hiss. after i stopped trying to pet her, she began sniffing and licking the spot where i had applied a test spray of musc ravageur. i found it even more odd because my own two cats did not react in any way.

That was cute! Code I think, wasn't it? My old brittainy spaniel liked to roll in dead things and feces. This is a huge improvement. And she looked so pleased with herself!

There seems to be no pattern to which breeds are doing this!

Too cute!

My dog loves to smell my perfume on me, but she has never applied it to herself like that.

Too cute for words.

I have three dogs. I'm going to try this.

My dog does this move, but unfortunately it involves real civet and castoreum that she finds in the woods.

Bucking the dogs-only trend: Kitty likes Polo Blue.

I'm thinking to try her application method...looks like fun! (the doggie method, not the kitty!)

My dog is a border collie mix and everytime I put on fragrance he has to check me out but, the real drama occurs when I wear Jicky. He comes up to me and glues his nose to my arm and gets those doe eyes like he's in heaven. What a character.

Would love to see a vid of that.

Thanks, Quarry, for the lovely clip.

Now I need to go get my dog, Kylie to see this.
It's time she learns about putting on perfume, not licking it!

((((KYLIE !!!!!))))
LOL ohhh that is just precious!!
My kitty seems to like perfume too,
he rubs on my wrists and licks fiercely
as soon as I apply anything.
Interestingly, he totally freaked out when I
tried Boucheron, that was the last time I wore it.

My mom's kitties act just like Clementine
when she gives them olives ! They go nuts
rubbing themselves on the floor, it's priceless!

Shandy really knows how to apply from a magazine strip. Perhaps we should emulate her techniques.

Georgie looks like the the kind of primped pup who would wear fragrance.

Here's Greta, a German shorthair, applying perfume.
Boy, she really zeros in on that scent strip! Then she wants more! Pretty funny.

If River is being totally honest, he'll tell you he's more of a gourmand and that he wears the JPG just to make “her” happy.
