Left arm: Le Labo Vetiver 46. LT pegs it as "floor wax and cold incense", although I don't go so far as he does in claiming there is no detectable vetiver whatsoever. Quite pleasant IMO, and deserving better than 2 stars, although I've only had it on for a couple of hours.

Right arm: Le Labo Iris 39. I'm on an iris kick these days, so any iris fragrance that doesn't completely muck it up is OK with me. The powdery aspect that so many iris frags have seems to have been muted somehow, replaced by a nice floral (which one, I can't quite put my nose on).

Both from a sample set given to me for Christmas by my DW. Yea!

Bad cold, so no perfume today. But bundling up in various clothes left draped over chairs I have enjoyed faint whiffs of several beautiful things: Terre d'Hermes on a t-shirt, L'Homme de Coeur on a sweater, Bois des Iles on another shirt. Have a good evening, all.

Sorry to hear that - hope you're feeling better soon. On the bright side, you're still smelling some things, so it's a good sign (if only for your nose! )

I intentionally wore nothing so that I could do some testing in stores. It was a complete madhouse, but it was so busy, I could try everything completely undisturbed. I'm sure the sales staff were very, very happy.

I never found a scent for my wrists - completely forgot about it. But I ended up with Usher's UR for men on the back of one hand, and J. Lo's deseo for men on the other. I had liked UR earlier, finding it similar to L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme, but this time it just didn't rock my boat. The homage to Usher's earlier scent was just too much this time. I got interesting whiffs, but it was love/hate.

deseo for men was more of a pleasant surprise. My wife liked it immediately. It's another modern light designer scent - nothing radical here - but very competently done. It has a tobaccoish note that's not quite a full note, but interesting nonetheless. It never diminished in any way, and it turned into a nice skin scent, so I can easily imagine this one getting a "thumbs up" from a lady who's likely smelled many fine men's scents close-up!

My favorite scent was the SotE - Kenzo Power, bought almost blind in a different store after we did all that testing. I can only say that Dimitri was right about this one. I sprayed it on before bed, and I have never had a scent get so many compliments from my wife. Every time I rolled over or moved around elicited another "That's good!" or "That's really good!" So it may be a rather binary test, but I can still honestly say that "chicks dig it"!

Anyway, hope that you're up and about as soon as possible. And I do want to hear how things have gone with your class on perfume. Not sure if that happened already. Perhaps your downtime could be the chance for a blog post or a report on how that went, or how the planning is going. I know I'm not the only one here who's really looking forward to hearing about that. Again, hope you feel better soon.

Change of plans from my original post, so I changed . . .

SOTA : Mugler Cologne : Thierry Mugler : OHHHHHH, how I adore, adore, ADORE this. This worked out much better than the Givenchy, which was far too formal.

SOTE : Mûre et Musc Extrême : L'Artisan Parfumeur : Awesomeness, period.
