Sillage monsters and sillage wimps. Best and worst.

What frag has monster sillage where 1 spray is even too much?

On the opposite end of the spectrum, which frag takes a whole bottle to get results?
Off the top of my head, some of the biggest sillage monsters are Montale Patchouli Leaves, Mazzolari Lui, YSL M7, and Profumum Dulcis et Fundo.

The worst that come to mind are Davidoff Adventure and Givenchy Pi Neo, (well, almost every 2008 male designer release). There are some fragrances that have low sillage because they are designed to be skin scents and not to have a lot of sillage (Malle Dans Tes Bra and Lostmarch Lann-Ael)

You know what is strange I wore M7 today two sprays, and no one barely notice it at all. I smelled it but had to put my wrist right to my nose.

I was in the car and asked they said they wondered if i even put anything on today

First time i actaully asked anybody since I got M7 so i guess I need to use more then 2 sprays.

dolce and gabbana pour homme
joop home, great sillage

clinique happy, no sillage
Nobody has yet mentioned YSL Body Kouros, Sillage Beat extraordinaire???

Two sillage wimps are also two of my all-time favorites... Helmut Lang Cuiron and Helmut Land EdC. Of course, I think the lack of sillage is on-purpose, but still...
Eau d' Italie Bois d' Ombrie and Black Aoud by Montale. Both monsters of sillage.
Black Aoud (very strong, and you can smell it across the room)

CdG Avignon (very strong, but only if you get your nose right in it)

Rochas Lui (I could use 10 spritz of this and it would still be mild)
Hascish Homme will permeate everything within a 15 foot radius.
Opium EDP can be EASILY overapplied
M7 likewise.
Basala and Montale Black Aoud will freight train unsuspecting civilians.

Weakest EDT I've come across this year was Aramis Tuscany. It smelled fine and then gone in 20 minutes after HEAVY sprays.

you can solve the EDC sillage problems, by buying the EDP, which has amazing sillage and longetivity!

funny that i think Cuiron actually has great sillage and longetivity! it lasts for a good 12 hours solid on me!

Of what I've owned...

I find Aramis, Hugo Dark Blue, RL Safari, Cubano Gold, Azzaro Pure Vetiver and Dunhill Desire project very well, and can be over-applied easily.

I find Polo Double Black, Corduroy, and RL Romance Silver to be lacking in the strength department.

The four sillage champions, hands down: Polo, Joop!, Calvin (the Eighties original) and Kouros.

Other sillage monsters include (but are by no means limited to) Bois d' Ombrie by Eau d'Italie, Monsieur Musk by Houbigant/Dana, Mazzolari Lui by Mazzolari, Yang by Jacques Fath, 1-12 by Halston, Devin by Aramis, Eternity for Men by Calvin Klein, Jacomo de Jacomo by Jacomo, L'Eau d'Issey by Issey Miyake, Jacomo Rouge by Jacomo, Miel de Bois by Serge Lutens, Azzaro pour Homme by Azzaro, Patou pour Homme by Jean Patou, Versailles pour Homme by Jean Desprez, America by Perry Ellis, Bogart pour Homme, Quorum by Puig, Body Kouros by Yves St. Laurent, Intense Euphoria by Calvin Klein, Basala by Shiseido, Obsession for Men by Calvin Klein, Aramis by Aramis, Vetiver by Guerlain (the original), M7 by Yves St. Laurent, Perry Ellis for Men (the original), Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme by Dolce & Gabbana, Patchouli Leaves by Montale, Chemistry by Clinique, Lauder for Men, Carlo Corinto pour Homme, Black Aoud by Montale, Aramis 900 by Aramis, Portfolio by Perry Ellis, Catalyst for Men by Halston, Paul Sebastian for Men by Paul Sebastian (and really any PS fragrance), Bois de Portugal by Creed and New York by Patricia de Nicolaï.

I can barely get any sillage at all out of bay rum (almost any kind, truth be told), Eau du Coq and other old fashioned shaving lotions/toilet waters. Eau Sauvage, Perry Ellis White and Bulgari pour Homme can all be fairly wimpy in terms of sillage.
Of what I currently own

Projecters:
Fleur du Male, Perry Ellis Portfolio

Skin huggers:
Perry Ellis 360 White, Polo Explorer, Mugler Cologne

My vote for a sillage wimp goes to Bulgari PH. No matter how much I apply, nobody around seems to be able to smell it (though I can smell it, so I know it's there)... well, too bad for them!
Best: Joop, Dolce Gabbana pour homme, Polo, Le Male
Worst: Eau Sauvage, Signoricci

Great sillage and longevity

Bogart PH

Godzilla: Carlo Corinto. Outdoes even Jacomo de Jacomo and Quorum. Guaranteed to get frags banned from your workplace, get you fired, or kill a bloodhound at ten paces. Not bad smelling really, just very strong.

Bambi: Dunhill D. A boring "gentleman's" citrus that outsnoozes most boring, generic acquas in its vanishing act. Sad. Alfred goes mod and falls into lemon pledge.

Pax,

Mario

You get great sillage with them along with some defects
Angel Men : you must hide during the 1st hour
Bogart PH: Too strong, it should be toned down
Body Kouros : the projection doesn't last like the other two
post #28 of 96
For the sillage monster, I would plump for the sawn-off shotgun that is Paco Rabanne
post #29 of 96
Knize 10 is easily the most powerful scent I've ever encountered.

Ultimate sillage wimp (since there are too many sillage monsters to be mentioned) On El by J del Pozo- not a bad frag, great notes which only last like 30 minutes

the monster = bijan men
the (otherwise brilliant) wimp = hermes eau d'orange verte
post #45 of 96
Hmm, maybe I just missed it, but I saw no mention of Terre d'Hermes which is a projection/sillage beast!

+1 on Corduroy lacking in sillage, and longevity for that matter, too bad though, because it's one of my favorite scents ever. Another disappointment which I just recently tried, was Givenchy Play Intense.. a very nice different take on a gourmand, adding citrus. After I noticed little sillage with it, I did the projection test, sprayed both my arms with a fairly large application, held my head up and waited several seconds before breathing through the nose, when I finally did, I smelled nothing.
Montale Black Aoud
best: Lapidus, Polo (original), Opium pour homme, Kouros, Joop Homme...
worst: Eau Sauvage, Signoricci, Davidoff Adventure...
Monster sillage would be (at least from my collection):

Joop! Joop! Homme
Azzaro Pour Homme
Azzaro Chrome
Azzaro Silver Black
Cerruti Pour Homme (yep, it reeks)
Givenchy Pi
JPG Le Male
Zino by Davidoff
Davidoff Cool Water (even after 10 hours)
CH Chic for men
Fahrenhiet and Fahrenheit Absolute
CK Obsession for men
MOschino Uomo

Worst:

CK Free

My skin chemistry is quite good so there are very few fragrances that don't project and last on me... lucky me
post #49 of 96
vintage tabarome for me.
mi for the weakest.
Monster: Lapidus - this stuff shows up on radar
Wimp: Geo Trumper West Indian Extract of Limes - I've had sneezes that lasted longer.

the one that i have found to be a monster is Joop Homme. One spray and thats it for the next few hours. Plus, if you get it on your clothes, you'll be smelling it for days
post #53 of 96
Quorum by Puig is the "Mother of all sillages", as I've said in another thread:

If Bush would have found Quorum in Irak he would have been justified on insisting that Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.
The chinese should have use Quorum much more efficiently than tanks to clear Tianamen square.
Instead of buiding the "Star Wars defensive nuclear shield", Reagan could have built the "Quorum defensive shield" to protect us from that nuclear concoction.

Wimps???, there are so many but Chrome by Azzaro, Nautica Classic and 1872 for Men by Clive Christian are the ones that come to my mind at this moment.

Ouch! I wore this in the summer (big mistake) the EDT, not even the EDP.. I was in Dollar Tree and I remember all the workers there looking at me like I just bathed in old oranges and soil. The sillage was enormous on that day, that day was my first real wearing of it. I could go to the back of the store and come back to the front and still smell it in the air.

Monsters to my nose:

Montale Attar
Montale Aoud Pur Oriental
