Glamorous scents

Hello.
Could you recommend me some scents you would describe as glamorous?
Not really sexy or casual... Not something you'd wear to work or school. Something very strong and noticeable for glamorous evening parties...

Think gold and silver colours, jewels, cigarette holders, purple silk and 20s Hollywood. Something decadent and glamorous!

Burberry Weekend and Givenchy pour Homme makes me think glamour, but I would like something more long lasting and stronger. I'm not afraid of floral or feminine scents.

Dior Homme has some of the qualities I want, but I can't stand the lipstick smell.

I have too many light and and casual scents, so super strong is a bonus.

Tom Ford's Black Orchid sprrings to mind immediately.

Ooh, good one. I actually tried that one quite recently.
I liked it, but I found it too light!

Maybe it's just my skin and nose, but almost everything seems too light on me.
It's nice for casual stuff, but for some smells I want it to be strong!

My personal first choice:
Straight to heaven, by Kilian
Dia, Amouage
Hot Leather, Marc Buxton

Second choice:
Baume du doge, Eau d'Italie
Let me play the Lion, LesNez
Reve en Cuir, Indult

SMN Nostalgia is the most glamourous fragrance i own.

2nd place would go to Helmut Lang Eau De Parfum.

Fun question! I would suggest that you try some vintage female perfumes that by today´s standards are completely unisex (to me, and a lot of BN:ers).

Tabac Blond, Poivre and En Avion by Caron (perfume strength, preferably vintage versions).
Mitsouko edp and Vol de Nuit by Guerlain.
Cuir de Russie by Chanel.

All are pretty hard to find but well worth the effort... Good luck!

Glamour? I'd consider Amouage Gold and Dia, Chanel Cuir de Russie, Black Aoud, Habanita, Ungaro II, Mazzolari Lui, and Noir Epices.

Great, I'll check out the ones recommended.

I've been curious about Mitsouko for a long time now.
Definitely have to get a decanter to test it. I can't find it in any local shops.

Heavy, vintage/recently unisex might be the kind of glamorous I'm looking for.

Trussardi Inside, Hermès Equipage, Guerlain L`Instant.

I'd go with Ambre Sultan. To me it's like a sophisticated glamour, as opposed to glamour and glitz though.

Derby, Guerlain!
Chanel Pour Monsieur (not contree).
L'Instant, in its opening chapters, is very glamorous.
Trussardi Inside and Chanel Pour Monsieur very strong and noticeable? That's not my experience.

Maby not so strong, but in my opinion very glamorous, luxurious and elegant. A fine, stylish attire is recommended!

Anything but Knize Ten. If you want to be alone for the rest of your life, then wear it. I would suggest anything Creed.

Creed Himalaya.
The only thing close to glamorous i've tried is Tobacco Vanille. It leans more toward gentleman than glamor though.
You say you're not afraid of feminines and flowers? Try Fracas (go easy on the sprays) and Bandit - these two Germaine Cellier beauties are the epitome of classic, decadent glamour.

Creed Virgin Island Water...

I second the Black Orchid recommendation.

I find it hard to believe that BO is 'too light' on you. Perhaps your nose is fatigued because you're applying too much (and you can't smell it anymore) or you're not applying enough.

Everytime I'm out and I encounter someone wearing BO I can smell it very easily on them. It creates a cloud of scent around them, it's so strong.

To me it's an extremely glamorous scent.

For me, Habit Rouge is instant glam in a bottle. Upon application I instantly feel like Charles Boyer. Eau d'Hermes is quite glam, too. On the unisex front, women's Opium and Bal a Versailles are quite the transformers.

i think chez bond is kinda glamorous and loud
post #22 of 46
Agree with Habit Rouge and will add Guerlain's Heritage as well.
I first thought of Black Orchid also. You may want to try layering it with the matching body lotion.

Angel & A*Men

Orientals are best IMO in giving that glamorous feel about their character.

Alongside my original recommendation of Black Orchid, Id also like to add Thierry Mugler's Angel, the original gourmand that drips opulence and excess! This is glamour personified.
I'd second Ungaro II, and also recommend Maitre Perfumer et Gantier's Or Des Indes.

Powdery, with a huge dose of opoponax, a slightly metallic musk note, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, and an interesting green lemony note woven throughout thanks to the geranium. If you've smelled Prada's Infusion d'Homme, imagine that only with a very warm instead of cool character, more powder, and more opulence.

i would say Rochas Lui could be a perfect choice for you. Here are some topics and reviews about it. I am using it not as an every day scent and think that it belows to the "glamorous" category you did described. Fine Woods especialy cedarwood, Neroli, Patchouli. Potent but elegant and a fine evening scent.

It´s not as masculine as described below:

"Lui, the new men's fragrance from French brand Rochas…is yet another testimonial to the move away from the watery, citrusy scents of recent years towards classic, strong and instantly recognisable fragrances. "Lui is for a man who wants to be a man. It is fresh and woody with amber notes, certainly not an all-purpose fragrance," said a Rochas spokesperson." (7/18/2003)

I almost forgot Burberry Touch (very elegant) and Bvlgari Black..
Tiffany's for men, Cereus No11 and Escentric 01
post #38 of 46
Let me underline Tiffany for Men from the poster just above. It is one of my favorite formal scents and based on your original post I think it fits the bill to a T.
I would choose:

Cuir de Russie, Chanel
XPEC Original
Tabac Blond, Caron
Coup de Fouet, Caron
Amouage Gold Men
Bandit, Piguet
Derby, Guerlain
Sous le vent, Guerlain
Profumo, Acqua di Parma

Chanel No. 5?
Iquitos springs to mind (and not just because it's by Alain Delon).
Paestum Rose
Amouage Gold
Chamade EDT or pure parfum (Guerlain)
Coco EDP (Chanel)

These are very different from each other, but I would consider them both very strong and glamorous.
for the kind of '20's Hollywood' glamour you mention, i'd suggest Caron Tabac Blond, Guerlain Mitsouko (or perhaps Samsara), Trumper's Eucris is glamorous in more of a debonaire, James Bond style, English and masculine. Black Orchid is definately glamorous, and Versace's Crystal Noir is glamorous in a wonderfully bad-taste, noveau-riche way - not sure about it on a man though.

Also try one of my favourites, Michael Kors Michael for Men - very masculine glamour, dried fruit and brandy and tobacco. Very decadent. and D'orsay's Le Dandy is truly fabulous.

try: Carnal Flower -F Malle
