Cologne A La Russe by Institut Tres Bien

Full review to come in the Spring - when I am going to break this out and give it a full wearing. It's rare that an eaux cologne gets me excited, but I loved this when Ruggles sent me a sample of it. Highly recommended. I got my bottle deeply discounted online.

So I made it through January without buying anything.... So I celebrated by buying a bottle of bottle of Tabarome Millesime (from a fellow BN'r).

DAMM YOU Basenotes Marketplace and your killer deals! LOL

MikeP:I havent tried that one yet. I have only tried Cologne A La Francaise which was ok, I still have a small sample around here somewhere. But I remember thinking that the line was worth checking out. I will keep an eye out for your review ( which I always enjoy immensely).

Just a 5ml miniature EDT of Joop! Homme.

I haven't had this for years so really nice to own it again. Hugely (though certainly not unanimously) unpopular here on Basenotes, I always liked it very much.

4 bottles of Yohji Homme 50ml tester

I have been looking around for this precious juice for ages and finally, when I am not really looking, I found 4 tester bottles staring back at me. I grabbed them all. Ah.. happiness.

Well.. I bit the bullet and purchased Creed Himalaya (4 oz.) and Royal Water (flacon) from fellow BN members.

I also just ordered GIT and SMW from fragrancenet.com with the 15% off coupon. I'm getting a little bit nervous about this recent flareup in my fragrance addiction, but I've always been able to somehow justify it.

Lots to look forward to in the mail in the next few weeks!

I finally gave in to the fact that everytime I go through a fragrance department, I have to spray some on and bought my own bottle; Aromatics Elixir

Fumidus by Profumum (from a bottle split)

I've been patiently waiting to have this in my wardrobe for about a year-and-a-half now. There is nothing like this, in my wardrobe. Although it does have its limits on when you can wear something this...boozy and tough-as-nails. When I wear it, I feel like getting into a fight and punching someone. Grrr...

I love it.

Lalique "Encre Noir" and "Yohji Homme"

(well yesterday actually)

In the last couple of weeks:

Patou pour Homme 2 oz
Green Irish Tweed 4oz
Montana Red 4.2oz
(3) 30ml bottles of R de Capucci (couldn't seem to locate any bottle bigger than 1 oz. at US sites)

Time to give it a rest, I think....

I'm spending on these to help spur the local economy

1. Michael For MEN 125ml
(At Bangkok airport duty-free recently, I spritzed on Platinum Egoist, YSL l'homme, Allure, Michael for men and even No.5 Eau Premiere on different parts of my arms- the one that I like best is Michael!!!)

2. Lalique pour Homme tester 75ml

3. Homme de Gres 75ml

4. Ungaro ll 100ml (yes, I bought another bottle to keep forever)
Eau de Patou, 1 oz bottle of the latest bottle design. I compared it to my older bottle and the difference is very subtle in the opening.

I also noticed that the box of my older bottle includes list of notes: honeysuckle, nasturtium (?? never heard of this) ylang-ylang, petitgrain from Paraguay, Sicilian lemons and Guinean oranges.

Arrived today:

Pascal Morabito Or Black 100 ml in a rather stunning metal framed sprayer (got a very good deal on eBay, France)

Floris Vetiver (on sale Edit: and discontinued?)
SMW and Jaipur edt should be here in about a week. SMW will be my first Creed and niche as well. And a blind buy, of course.
To arrive early next week: the now discontinued Guerlain Plus Que Jamais. Had it not been discontinued I may have waited a little while, but it's as gorgeous as any Guerlain and I'm glad to have it. Plus, I'd be pissed if I went to buy it in a couple months and it was gone. It's not like bottles are popping up on eBay.

Plus, in a trade with a BNer I'm getting the also now-discontinued Floris Vetiver, which has been sitting on my 'want to buy' list for months.

coming soon! Pics of my Quand Vient la Pluie received for my birthday. It's very impressive looking, with the biggest display case I've ever seen.... it's the size of a large briefcase, lacquered and velvet lined, with 'Guerlain' embossed in gold leaf. The bottle's 'pedestal sculpture' must weigh 10 pounds if not more, and even the glass funnel has a gold Guerlain logo on it. It's then hand numbered (101/140) and signed by the artist.... best birthday present ever.

A replacement bottle of Chanel Pour Monsieur; my old one is getting very near the end, and it's getting harder and harder to find this in the U. S.
I'm so glad I received gift certificates for my birthday... one of which I just used to pick up:

Guerlain Terracotta Voile d'Ete

This is sort of a blind buy, but sort of not. According to Mr.Guerlain, Terracotta (which was discontinued) became what is now Quand Vient l'Ete in the Les Parisiennes line. I was glad to find this out, especially when i was seriously thinking about spending a good piece of change on the QVLE (which I have sampled). The Terracotta is at many retailers for under $30. The French have an ironic sense of humor.

Inspired by mikeperez, I used the remainder of an eBay gift certificate to get my own 15ml mini of Hermes Vanille Galante.

This is a blind buy, but I have faith in JC (not that JC!) that he will do vanilla right. Hopefully it will arrive soon.

Today was a huge splurge for me, even by basenotes standards, but I've just discovered this site and realized how much I don't know and want to check out...

Plus, it was a beautiful day in San Francisco, so I headed to Union Square to shop (and stick around for the Chinese New Year's Parade!)

First, to Saks to seriously check out Bond No. 9. I've hated their bottles and read the negative reviews here, but I had to see for myself. I ended up buying Eau de New York. The SA threw in samples of almost the entire line (!!!), 29 in all, plus a sample of Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille (which I asked about thanks to reading so much about it here - it's not what I'm used to at at all but seems beautiful).

Then up to Fresh. They had a new scent which was way too feminine, but I bought a great Demitasse candle. It basically smells like Bond's New Haarlem.

After that, I ran into Wilkes Bashford to pick up their signature scent, Wilkes San Francisco, after sampling it there before. Nothing groundbreaking, but a nice orange spice.

Then to Bloomingdales to pickup some conditioner and another candle (this time one of those Dayne Deckers where the wick is a piece of wood - I'm burning it right now and it's not that great... my only disapointment from this trip). But they threw in samples of Diptyque's Tam Dao, Philosykos, and L'Ombre Dans L'Eau.

Then up to Barney's to get L'Artisan's Mure Et Musc Extreme after enjoying a sample. Christina (ask for her - the best SA in SF) threw in samples of Ananas Fizz, Dzing! (again, after reading about it here), and Tea For Two. She also decanted a sample for me of Serge Lutens Sa Majeste La Rose (thank you!).

Then it was off to Neiman's to see what all the fuss was about Geurlain (I told you I just recently found this site - please don't be cruel), but they'd closed early for the parade. Probably a good thing...

Well over $500 in one day? I think I'm getting in deep here.

But I'll smell amazing for at least a year off all this...

Tabarome Millesime 75ml. I blew my monthly budget Probably am not going to buy anything till april. Im pretty saddened by the fact that the creed testers at my local departmental store are so over exposed to light, they smell nothing like the actual scent. The Tabarome tester smelled lighter with ginger and a hint of tabacco, while the juice i bought was richer, thicker and heavier (i preferred this of course).

Today I bought a 100mL bottle of Bois 1920 Extreme.
