Today was a huge splurge for me, even by basenotes standards, but I've just discovered this site and realized how much I don't know and want to check out...
Plus, it was a beautiful day in San Francisco, so I headed to Union Square to shop (and stick around for the Chinese New Year's Parade!)
First, to Saks to seriously check out Bond No. 9. I've hated their bottles and read the negative reviews here, but I had to see for myself. I ended up buying Eau de New York. The SA threw in samples of almost the entire line (!!!), 29 in all, plus a sample of Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille (which I asked about thanks to reading so much about it here - it's not what I'm used to at at all but seems beautiful).
Then up to Fresh. They had a new scent which was way too feminine, but I bought a great Demitasse candle. It basically smells like Bond's New Haarlem.
After that, I ran into Wilkes Bashford to pick up their signature scent, Wilkes San Francisco, after sampling it there before. Nothing groundbreaking, but a nice orange spice.
Then to Bloomingdales to pickup some conditioner and another candle (this time one of those Dayne Deckers where the wick is a piece of wood - I'm burning it right now and it's not that great... my only disapointment from this trip). But they threw in samples of Diptyque's Tam Dao, Philosykos, and L'Ombre Dans L'Eau.
Then up to Barney's to get L'Artisan's Mure Et Musc Extreme after enjoying a sample. Christina (ask for her - the best SA in SF) threw in samples of Ananas Fizz, Dzing! (again, after reading about it here), and Tea For Two. She also decanted a sample for me of Serge Lutens Sa Majeste La Rose (thank you!).
Then it was off to Neiman's to see what all the fuss was about Geurlain (I told you I just recently found this site - please don't be cruel), but they'd closed early for the parade. Probably a good thing...
Well over $500 in one day? I think I'm getting in deep here.
But I'll smell amazing for at least a year off all this...
