quick question on flavor

are flavors created in the same way fragrances are, using molecular chemistry, often creating new flavors? i know it sounds stupid, but when talking about new soda flavors or chip flavors, or candy flavors, etc....things that are iconic like Coke, Juicyfruit, Cool Ranch Doritos..are these things that are flavored with existing (organic) compounds, and finding good combinations of them, or is flavor chemistry generating new molecules to acheive certain tastes?

just like perfumery, flavour can be entirely synethic, hybrid, or entirely natural. Remember the word organic chemistry just refers to substances that contain carbon, oxygen, hydrogren etc.. not organic as in organic food, naturally coming from the earth etc. Synthetic molecules are still considered organic chemistry.. if they fall under those specifications.. does that kind answer your question ?
