I have tried a sample of Guerlain Cologne du 68 and I like it. There is no entry of reveiws in the Fragrance Directory so, I rely on those of you who have tried it for your review. I intend to buy some but, still would like to hear pros and cons. So, have at it.

Note: As I wear this sample of Cologne du 68 after about two hours I can definately smell a very nice evolution to a L'heure Bleue with just a very nice hint of powder. Now I don't normally like anything with carnation in it but this is an even nicer L'heure Bleue-like frag. in it's development.

I like it, too. The main impression I get from it is that it is a kind of eau chaude, an eau-de-cologne style fragrance (based mainly on citrus and lighter green notes in the top), but with some depth and warmer, resiny, woody, and perhaps even animalic notes (in this one, only musk) supporting that citrus-heavy top.

Just FYI, Here is the Cologne du 68 Complete List of notes, as listed on the label:

1. Bergamot
2. Green Tangerine

I just received a sample of Cologne du 68 today. I sprayed on top of my hand and the top notes are very nice. Need a full wearing and to see how it develops, but I am liking it so far.

There are no cons N Tesla , I purchased it on the spot after first trying it . It has amazing depth and longevity , worth every penny

Why do I think I wrote a review, but under 'No. 68' (even though it's just another name for Guet Apens/Attrape)? If you like Guerlinade you'll like Cologne 68 . . . it's a shape shifter under a blanket of heliotrope and vanilla and typifies - in Mr. Guerlain's own words - the gourmand/floral style of modern Guerlain's releases.

Utterly beautiful. Bright, warm, sensual. Can't go wrong. I reach for this now more than anything else and I have some good stuff in my wardrobe IMO!

One of my faves, too.

he he ...bumping so my friend Larimar can see I am not the only fan of this scent

Gotta chime in at this party, too. I bought 68 on a whim, and oh my what a fine purchase. Online commentary had me expecting a kind of noisy, busy scent, but it wears very warm and classy. Surprisingly versatile. Well-priced. A compliment-getter, on top of all that. Glad I sprang for it. One of my better buys this year.

I've got a few mL decant of Cologne du 68 and I find it beautiful, pretty wearable on a hot days. It's citrus opening is great, then it turns into fruity-floral-vanilla. I also get the glimpse of basil that bothers me for those few seconds I sense it.

Generally speaking, I would happily join some of it into my collection. Maybe I'll organize a split...

I enjoy it too. Had to purchase a bottle after a generous basenoter gave me my first fix.

I have used this a lot recently...strangely fresh but substantial at the same time. Long lasting too.

Does this one smell like 180 Ans D Creation?

Nope.

180 Ans leans towards Tonka Imperiale, Quand Vient la Pluie, even Mon Precieux Nectar - but basically at the drier end of the Guerlainade scale.

Cologne du 68 doesn't get much press but for such a sleeper it's a great piece of work, it just makes you smile. You know how Diptyque have L'Eau and the recent one that both are sort of meant to evoke the idea of the interior of a Diptyque store in a vaguely potpourri kind of way? There's something for me with Cd68 that has that effect - it's definitely a Guerlain but not any one specifically . . . I'm sure if they had given it an impressionistic name and a backstory a lot more people would be talking about it.

I'm a really, really big fan of Cologne du 68.

It's one of those fragrances that can give you a different face depending on the atmosphere in which it's worn. Without fussing about background notes and bit players (talking general impressions) I can get anything from a straight up, delicate, slightly resinous and boozy vanilla. Sometimes more booze than vanilla. Sometimes a whole gallery of subtle florals and green notes on that same base.

Really it does a lot of things, and for that reason I need to own several bottles because it's a fragrance I can wear when nothing else jumps out at me, and no matter how many times I do it stays interesting.

I believe the one from 2002 shows the wrong bottle, and should be a different scent altogether. I have a bee bottle of No 68 and it is the same scent as Attrape Coeur and Guet Apens - this same scent came in three names in the brief period it was made (starting 1999). This 2002 No.68 version is a limited edition when the flagship store on 68, Champs Elysees was reopened.
