both of those seem ideal for what you want, although Brit for me is the superior fragrance. Chic is fresher with it's watery fruit notes, Brit has a vaguely soapy edge and a warm, soft powder feel. I'd say that chic is perhaps slightly more of an 'office' scent, whereas i think Brit would be great in a more romantic setting.
Burberry Brit apperas to be, at least on my skin, longer lasting, more formal and slightly heave, darker (three cardinal virtues, which make me choose a scent and stick to my choice).
