Rykiel Homme by Sonia Rykiel

A pleasant grapefruit plus yuzu-tinged scent of little interest. But ultimately forgettable. This one will not stand out in the sea of men scents in the market today.

Hugo Element from sample

I've been revisiting a few of the neglected frags in my collection that haven't been worn in months. Today is Hugo's turn for a rare outing. Mmm. It was never a favourite, being too dull and generic. I'm surprised some of the reviews here compare it to Polo as I can detect no similarities whatsoever.

Amouage Jubilation XXV (Men)

"At a time when Europeans were too busy building Stonehenges to even wash, the ancient Omani culture had already discovered the secret of... FRUIT PUNCH. Delve into mysteries of the orient with a perfume that uses only the finest silver frankincense and observe how this is beaten to a bloody pulp by the ancient fruit punch aromas. Crafted by B. Duchaufour, scion of an old family of lemonade makers harking from the brambly bushes of La Douce France."

Space banana in your fruit punch?

But seriously I don't get the whole space banana thing. I get a fantastic orange flower and neroli with a little of whatever that plummy aldehyde is and some beautiful amber amber and vanilla. Truly a beautiful fragrance.

My husband, Ray and I, met 11 years ago today. We're celebrating by spending the day with each other - on a beautifully sunny Saturday morning here in Miami.

My life is rich. My heart is full. My fragrance wardrobe is well stocked. How lucky I am!

Have a great day everybody.

Happy anniversary, Mike!!!!

After testing Ava Luxe Roses and liking it very much, particularly for warm weather (sorry, Mike!) I did a complete about-face and am reveling in something much more typical for me, Parfumerie Generale Cuir d'Iris. This one always reminds me of our fabulous Lady in Black, who first brought it to my attention. Big hugs and thanks!

Congratulations Mike and Ray. That's quite a milestone. May you have many more years of happiness together. Huzzah!

Congratulations, Mike!

I missed the Friday SotD lockdown, but yesterday's scent was too great to pass up logging it on BN...

Neil Morris Midnight Forest

This is a new one, and really nice. It's not as much of a "themed" scent as the name implies, relative to something like Northwoods. Although there is a cool, coniferous aspect to Midnight Forest, my immediate impression was Hermèssence Vétiver Tonka. Not the same, but something which retains nearly all of the beautiful heart of Vétiver Tonka and builds on it. That might seem like a sacrilege, but it works. It does lack the simplicity and transparency of VT, but not by much. I was pretty sweet on Red Sky, but I think this one has stolen my affection.
