The Excitement.....and The Dissapointment

You've ordered your frags off the net, you get the email saying they've been dispatched..........................you wait................... and wait.

You get up the next morning and await the courier or postman, you're excited as you're about to finish your sample and really wish for the bottle to turn up........ you wait.

Well looks like its not coming today then

Hmmm should I go shower just now? What happens if they try to deliver when I'm in the shower? What would I do then?

Ha ha,

Maybe its just me then
No I can really identify with this one.

I've had a number of things I am awaiting delivery on and nothing has turned up yet. I've been expecting stuff for the last few days too. :-(

I phoned one supplier only to find that they were out of stock and were waiting for new stock to come in - it would have been nice if they'd let me know!

But yeah, expecting stuff on a given day and it not arriving is a real bummer. Even worse when you've already applied a SotD and the delivery comes AFTER, when really you want to wear whatever it is you've ordered...

Ahhh its probably the joys of the UK Post Office. Ha ha.

FYI its the Knize Ten and the Knize Sec im waiting for. Off work today and tomorrow. Hope they turn up when Im off or else I'll have to wait longer or even worse they might dump my frag with my upstairs neighbour again.

This is virtually my day today. I have 2 orders coming from 2 different websites. One is coming through the US Post Office and another via UPS. According to the online tracking both will arrive today. I work from home so being here when they arrive is not a problem. This morning is filled with great anticipation. I ordered Kouros Tattoo blind and Bergamotto Marino also blind. Meanwhile I am contemplating another order that would hopefully arrive next week. It may be time to check into "the clinic". Anyway, I share your anticipation. Was that a knock at the door??!! Gotta go!

Oh yea 100% behind you there. I won a record on ebay years ago and 2 weeks had passed and it hadn't arrived so I sent a few emails and waited then eventually said that I'd be forced to leave negative feedback (which I don't like doing)

The guy got back to me saying that he had the record sleeve but lost the record.......

Ass

Ah the anxiety caused by the wait for a fragrance. It adds to the drama that is collecting fragrances.

First, it's the analytical process of selection
then theres the excitement of the buy
then, the anxiety of the wait,
Finally, the joy of receiving the brand new member(s) of your collection.

Waiting on a bunch of samples and 3 new additions to my collection at the moment. I'm hoping they come next week!

Well described.

I am currently waiting on five items.

I hate waiting!

This happened to me with my Finance textbook this semester. Placed the order (after the semester had already started, as usual ) and about ten days later, received an email saying that it was out of stock. My semesters are only 8 weeks long, so this was a real setback for me.

As far as fragrances go - I can't tell you how many times I've written this note:

"UPS/Mail Person - If there is no answer at apartment 303, please leave any package(s) for Chris with apt. 202, 203, or 306, or at the apartment office" The knuckle-dragging idiots at UPS still manage to screw it up, though.

Very philosophical.

All this waiting allows for more browsing.

I'd very much imagine that my frags wont be here today.

This is 100% true for me, for everything in life.

Now, if only I could want the things I already have, life would be flawless!

I can totally sympathize with this. I have sort of figured out the patter with the various sites I use, and how long they will take to arrive, but every once in a while it's the odd time where it takes longer than normal and I freak out. Oh, I also HATE the USPS, UPS, etc. shipping info updates. They never seem to work, last time they notified me that the shipment had been sent, and then zip nothing else until a week later when they caught up and inputed all the relevant info. UGHHH!! I hate that.

Im a BIG one for this.

I have 3 large packages on there way to me and they are all from other countries. I should have to wait for at least 8 days before I get any of them too and its really damned annoying!

I have this week off school due to injury, it could at least be put to use!

guilty

to show this sickness more clearly, i was looking up islands in the south pacific to move to. something a little remote. a dream of mine.

and then i thought, "man, what about when i order fragrances and samples? will they even deliver there? and how long would it take?" i suddenly became disinterested in moving.
also i have taken a 1/2 day off from work before so i get home earlier for a mega-shipment of samples. was too excited to wait.

I've taken half days for other things turning up. I'd get stuff delivered to my work but there is only about 9 of us working there and everyone there is a nosey b*****d so I'd rather get frags delivered to the house than try to explain to someone at work why I'd spend £100 etc.

Usually I try to buy a few days before a day off work.
I believe I long-ago reached zen in this area. My energy goes into finding the lowest priced samples or bottles that I'm looking for at a reputable discounter and leveraging quantity against shipping charges, coupons, etc. Once I've placed my order, I don't even think about it for at least a full week (7 days) or maybe a little longer depending on when I placed the order. It helps that all my mail & packages are delivered to a facility that accepts them for me at any time during standard business hours. I only check it about once a week.

I order a LOT of stuff online including almost all my frags. I find it a necessity to have a box at a mail receiving agency like The UPS Store or the like. This takes a lot of worry out of the scenario - no missed deliveries because I was not home; no delivery to nosy neighbors; no packages left out in the rain, etc.

Ha ha, you should have seen me the day I had a card in my flat telling me that the bottle of Creed MI I had bought was in my upstairs neighbours flat.

When I moved in here this whole street was privately owned now about 85% is owned by letting agents. In the last 2 years, the 2 flats upstairs from me have had a total of about 8 residents so I dont really know my neighbours.

Expensive frag of mine, in a strangers flat...... worst of it was I was never in at the same time as him for 3 days. That was worse than waiting on the postman.

For some reason I'm a total junkie for this kind of anticipation!

Easy question: Get out of the shower and answer the door dripping and bare-assed.

Yea
I am a college student so my daily rush is when I get to my apartment every night and find a nice fragrance package waiting to be explored
unfortunately some financial issues have put a hold on this wonderful adrenaline rush
maybe soon

I know I've got a day off work but I've been showered since really early today.

Totally agree with SirSlarty here. Before the package shows up I feel the excitement, but after having it, that excitement starts to fade away. I guess it's just like sex! Before and after......
