New to the frag world and even newer to the pronunciations herein. I've recently acquired a couple of fragrance samples. I don't wanna sound like a newbie if I am asked what I am wearing. Please assist with:

encre
Montale
aoud
Millésime

Feel free to add any you think are worth noting.

I've been wondering how people pronounce this myself. I'm going to take a shot, I didn't take french so don't think my pronouncation is correct

encre - on-kray
Montale - mont-ahl
aoud - oood
Millesime - mill-seem (this one I have NO idea at all how to pronounce.

Don't forget in the word 'encre' (as well as various other French words) to have the sound come from the back of your throat, through your nose. Practice by saying the name of the fragrance Saffran Troublant (sahw-fraw-troo-blah, as nasal as you can).

no offence guys, you're always very nice and helpful, but each time I see american people trying to mimic the sounds of french words writing them in english it always puts a smile on my face

This is an awesome website which will allow you to type in a word and pick "French" and the program will pronounce it for you.

Ugh, you just reminded me of when I tried to discuss Prada Infusion d'Iris with an SA. She looked at me like I had two heads until I picked up the bottle and went "this one here".

Hahaha, yeah, I've experienced both side with this: the SA who rather pretentiously corrects my American Pronunciation, and more recently a couple who give me the wtf? look and proceed to repronounce my correct pronunciation with a more Americanized version...can't win, lol
