C&S no 88, Rose 31, Cannabis Rose and Black Aoud...

BA screams patchouli...

Cannabis Rose has a nice touch of it as well....

Yes, read the other threads then go buy some Hammam Bouquet

Ungaro lll and BA

I really like Black Aoud for rose slightly over No. 88. Black Aoud reminds me not only of rose, but the entire rose bush. The rose bloom along with the woody stem. As a plus, it lasts a really long time. The Oud note can be a little harsh though.

My husband likes Paestum Rose (so do I for that matter.)

Black Aoud is great, but when I think of rose + patchouli, I think of Voleur de Roses.

There is only one: Domenico Caraceni 1913

Cabaret by Gres. Nice stuff, always online very cheap. Turin gives it ****.

Thanks for beating the drums Ruggles. I just bought it blind because of your recommendation. Loving it!

On my skin the longevity of Cabaret is pretty short. Maybe that's why Dr. Turin says that it "makes you want to go back every hour and spray some more."
I just sprayed it on and then a layer of Molinard's patchouli - peppery, patchouli heaven!

Out of all those threads, the only person I saw note Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme was ZZTop. Good call! I haven't seen the pricing on this lately, but my guess is it can be found at a decent price.

My current top rose fragrances are Eau D'Italie's Paestum Rose, Serge Lutens Sa Majeste La Rose, and Czech & Speake's No. 88 and Dark Rose. Of those, Sa Majeste is probably considered too feminine by some guys, but the rest should be easily wearable by any guy who likes rose.

"The Dominator" aka Domenico Caraceni PH

I like Ungaro III's interpretation.

Chanel 19 EDT - wearable for men (than the EDP)

Voleur de Roses

Though, on thinking about it, if what you want is patchouli and rose, I'd recommend trying Czech & Speake's Rose ( not to be confused with the quite different Dark Rose ), L'Artisan's Voleur de Roses, and possibly ELDO's Rossy Di Palma. None of these are number ones for me because I don't like patchouli that much, but if you do, these are worth a try.

Remembering your love of Mistsouko, I think you really must try Serge Lutens' Rose De Nuit, a gorgeous rose chypre in a similar vein.

+1 .

I too like Domenico Caraceni 1913.

I love too Ungaro III.

I'm also a BIG fan of Rose D'Homme which is an effortlessly classy deep rose fragrance tailored for men by Parfums De Roisine.

Another good one which goes for a fine oriental rose is Malabah by Penhaligon's. Ordinarily assumed to be a feminine fragrance (and it comes in EdP strength), Malabah is eminently a wearable fragrance for a man.

The king of rose fragrances for me though will always be Hammam Bouquet. God it's beautiful.

Ungaro III
Black Aoud
Attar
Aoud Roses Petals
Sa Majeste La Rose (feminine- but IMO wearable.)
C&S No.88

ALL of the above get loads of compliments- IMO they are all beautiful and very complex frags.

Rose Poivree is my favorite (so far).
I'm with Perfaddict and Galamb. Voleur de Rose is the rose/patchouli central station.

I've got to give a shout out to a lesser-known fragrance that I happen to have recently acquired, wore last night for the first time, and was taken aback by it's awesomeness.

Al Haramain - Marwah

It is an Arabic rose attar and oudh. The bottle I have is a 25ml, and it is concentrated perfume oil. You only need a little for it to bloom out nicely. The cap has a built-in applicator stick. The bottle is among the tackiest things I've ever seen. I keep it hidden away from the majesty of the rest of my collection like an unwanted retarded bastard child.

The scent is amazing, though! It smells like something from the Montale line. A bit of Attar, a bit of super clean musk, and some subtle oudh. Think Alyssa Ashley Musk meets Black Aoud, but with the "black" turned down to a lovely greyish purple (maybe?). Long story short - fans of Montale should try it.

Frederic Malle Une Rose

Penhaligon's newest, Elixir.

Egoiste - very rosy on my skin, and the spice lies in the background.

Yummy!

Le Labo's Rose 31 and Amouage Lyric Man are the two best rose based scents to my nose...so far.

I'm getting Amouage's Homage Attar in the mail soon, so I may change my opinion

Black Aoud and Czech & Speake No.88 deserve an honorable mention.
For me, Montale's Aoud Damascus.
Black Aoud is so very satisfying. It is the best rose to me. If you want patchouly in with it then go for royal aoud. There are all by montale of course.
I have a preference to the woody/rose of Le Labo's Rose 31. I also like Golden Oud (Bulgarian rose, bourbon geranium and patchouli) by Montale, probably more-so than Damascus or Roses Petals, or Queen Rose. I would also suggest Rose Poivree.
My two favorites are Une Rose (strong and ambery) from Editions de Parfums and Rose de Nuit from Serge Lutens. Mubakhar Ateeq from Al-Haramain is also very good and is available from the Al-Munawwara eBay Shop.

1 more here endorsing Paestum Rose
I've just ordered a load of perfume oils of various rose scents, patchouli, musks, sandalwoods etc to see what combinations I like. I like deep rose, patchouli and dark musks. I'll let you know how I get on with various blends.
