SOTE: Testing another Jo Malone, Amber & Lavender.
This is not the kind of amber I'm used to.
It kicked off spicy and medicinal. Soon, black pepper emerged, on top of something I can only describe as the bitter citric pungency of grapefruit, but without the actual grapefruit smell. It's kind of like when you break into an orange and the oil from the peel sprays out and, for a split second, you smell the bitterness of the orange before you actually smell orange.
OK, so that's pretty abstract...
This settled into a peppery citrus (again, not a specific fruit, just a citric pungency) that eventually settled into something resembling pineapple.
Hours later, the pineapple with pepper combo faded into amber, but not the usual amber base. This one is more like sweet tree sap, very lightly mentholated, and with the slightest vegetal funk.
At no point did I ever smell anything here remotely like lavender, despite the name.
This one's nice, and I do enjoy a good fruit/pepper combo. Definitely worth further testing.
EDIT: I smelled this next to a nice lavender sachet and I was wrong - the confusing astringent medicinal blast in the beginning was lavender. I'm guessing the light mentholation in the end was the result of the lavender, too.
