Which Tommy Bahama's to buy blind?

Ok, I know that somebody will say never buy blind. I personally is not a huge fan of buying blind either but there's something about the "unknown" aspect of it is just so tempting

I really like the concept that every scent is a drink from Tommy Bahama fragrances. Tommy Bahama stuff is not presented in my country but I can purchase online for a reasonable price so I decide to give his fragrances a try.

Ok, it's time to talk a bit about my fragrances preference.

Because I live in a tropical country so oriental/spicy scents like Black XS, Azzaro Visit, A*men, etc are really a no no.

I also don't like "feminine aquatic" type like Acqua di Gio, Aqva Marine, CK one summer 2008 kind of scents.

Most of my beloved are CK's - One, Euphoria, Obsession, Eternity, Contradiction, In2U Pop, Eternity Summer 2007, Man. I really really hate Truth though.

I also own and love Hugo Boss Energise and Lolita lempicka au Masculin Fraicheur

I guess I'm pretty much a woody kind of guy, I also enjoy fruity smell like pineapple, lemon, etc

Hope I give enough information.

Guys, please help me, I put my trust on you guys

By the way, just like everybody else I like my scent to has good sillage and good longevity

Tommy Bahama (original)
Set Sail South Seas

Haven't smelled South Seas but I can 100% recommend the original.

I smelled it once in Macy's last year, the memory of it stayed with me while I was back in the UK and I bought it a couple of months ago. It is actually better than I remembered.

It's often said on this forum that if it were by a more respected niche house it would be hailed as a great fragrance. It is anyway. I love wearing it as much as I do some of my favourite niche frags.

I love the original. I feel it can work anywhere anytime.

I would recommend Set Sail South Seas. It's a boozy fun fragrance that can be worn in the warmer months. The original is just too subtle and does not last that long in my experience.

I like TB original. It is a woody scent, with one of the most satisfying drydowns I've experienced in a while. It is a feel-good scent.

As you predicted, I'm going to be the one that tell you to sample them first. What is it that appeals to you about the line? It sounds like it's just the marketing... really the fragrances aren't all that. If you like them, great - but I'd suggest you try to sample them before you end up with fragrances you don't like.

frug hit it right on the head... the original tommy bahama is a masterpiece of woods and spice, and the syrupy rum in the dry down makes you want to throw on a pair of linen pants and watch the sunset... set sail south seas is violet done right - after the blast of orange (bergamot) in the beginning the violet and light rum notes place you smack dab in the middle of the carribbean, rumrunner in hand and beautiful woman by your side. As for very cool and st barts they are decent enough scents, but pale in comparison to the previous two. As memory serves me I think the original tommy bahama was my first blind buy (a girlfriend at the time said it was her favorite), and i have received differing comments while wearing it. Some say that it's too spicy while others are reaching into my pants as they dig into my neck, but I'm afraid that's the way fragrances are... there is not a single scent that will be loved by all, but you sure can find some that will be loved by most. Good luck in your endeavor!

Wooooah! Boy do I ever disagree with you on certainly the original. It's a really good fragrance, lots to commend it and it lasts ages. Of it's type it's a very very good fragrance for your dollar/pound/euro...

But each to their own sir

very cool is nice, it reminds me of lacoste style in play(red)...i have recieved loads of compliments and i like it too. It has elements of those aquatics you dont like, but i think its got a fruity, boozy, light enough vibe to it. Personally, i think if you are a fan of eternity summer, you would like this too...if you know what lacoste red smells like, you get the idea on this one, but its a little less pronounced.

St Barts is better than South Seas. South seas smells like cilantro. Very cool is good too.

Of course I would say sample first. But if you really want to blind purchase, I would recommend the original Tommy Bahama for Men or Set Sail St. Barts for Men (a similar vibe to Creed's Virgin Island Water - perfect for a tropical climate).

I personally felt Very Cool for Men and Set Sail South Seas for Men were extremely generic and boring.

I think all of the Tommy Bahama frags are relatively 'safe' blind buys as they are all nice and inoffensive.

i have only bought the original tommy bahama for men, bought it blind..amazing!

doesnt develop at all really, but the smell is beautiful, and lasts for hours.
