The Big Capucci - R de Capucci

Don't hear much about this one except for Hirch's sig, but I have to say this is one of my best buys in the last 6 months. It's a very complex scent. It's green, citrusy, floral, leathery, & mossy - so many different faces all in one scent. And still it smells noble and huge. Henry VIII could wear this and shag the entire kingdom in one fell swoop. I could put this one on and play Wembley with no sweat. Oliver Creed wishes he could create frags as good as this one. Amazon.com has 1oz bottles for $21. Get it while you can but don't be surprised if you suffer from delusions of grandeur while wearing it
.

I have never smelled this. Is it very aldehyde prominent?

This sounds suspiciously like a chypre to me!

I detect no aldehydes. Smells very natural if that means anything.

I believe both are in the Fresh Chypre category, but their accords are very different.

Very different. CpH is a zesty citrus, R is much more complex and spicy. Personally I find it to share a lot of the qualities of Aramis and Yatagan.
A well balanced, classic leather chypre fragrance that belongs in every discerning gentleman's collection.

It definitely has aldehydes.
Superb scent, I don't wear it enough any more. Complex, fresh, leathery, 80's, chypre. This was the smell of "me" for many years.

Just sampled on paper today. It faintly reminded me of D'Orsay Arome 3 Tradition / Chevalier (can't remind which). I think they shared a couple notes. Do you see any similarities?

I love this fragrance. Once when I wore it, my SO said "You smell so wonderful, it is so fragrant. I really love it!" What more can i say but, I concur!

Just got this and am enjoying my first wear! Definitely a classic kind of scent. In terms of more comparisons, I find it positioned somewhere between Macassar by Rochas and Francesco Smalto pour Homme. Definitely more spicy, green and maybe mossy than Aramis, and not as sharply aromatic as Aramis either. Nice balance. Thanks for talking up this one.
