Happy April, everyone!

Today I hauled out a sample vial of Parfumerie Generale Cadjmere since it's still (just barely) cool enough for it.

Cadjmere Notes: Myrtle branch, sap, red tangerine, rosewood, Kenyan cypress resin, coconut milk, sandalwood bark, ambrette seed, vanilla.

Today, I am sampling another of Mr. Polge's modern masterpieces:

Chanel Allure

On first wearing some time ago, this fragrance seemed a tad weak, lacking in sillage and longevity. However, today I am finally getting it. It is a modern take. It is not supposed to have monster sillage like the 80's powerhouse juices. Polge structured the fragrance to wear close to the skin in a very provocative way. Thus, the name, Allure.

I quite like the opening. I am definitely getting vanilla and some other perhaps woody or perhaps very light musk notes. It does not wear terribly long, but at this point, that is really not the issue for me with this lovely fragrance.

I will quite likely give it another two or three wearings, and if everything works out well, I feel fairly confident that it will move up to a very prominent place on my potential acquisition candidates for my wardorbe.

Everyone have a Wonderful Wednesday!

SOTD: My first test, trying to figure out L'Eau par Kenzo pour Homme by Kenzo.

I love the first blast: sparkly lemon/lime soda and ginger ale, which is quickly joined by pulpy apple juice.

Soon, some very faint musk and sandalwood (more the creaminess than the woodiness) come in, but it's not really a base, because it wears off very quickly one me. By then, the top has faded into a decent but kind of dull lemongrass.

After only an hour or two, all that's left on me is a VERY faint colone base (I think that's what it is - it's that funky "aquatic" melon) with a tiny bit of residual lemon.

If they could somehow reformulate this to make that amazing top last longer and put some balls into the base, this could be an amazing scent.

I really like this, but it just doesn't last long enough on me.

Homme d'Hermès

PS - April Fools. Please forgive me, my beloved Terre and Homme. I actually wore Clinique Happy For Men. I missed you both terribly, although Happy did not leave me totally unhappy. But I did feel the need for something with some cojones - even if only a figment of my imagination.
