The Different Scent

A while back I found this store in the middle of Berlin and I have been wanting to share this nugget with those of you who dont already know about it, the mentioning of it in the "bought in may" has finally made me sit down and do it.

I talked to the owner about basenotes and eventhough he hadnt heard of us beforehand he seemed very interested and gave me the allowance to broach him and his store on here.

The shop is located in Berlin, right in the centre and close to Friedrichstrasse and specialised in traditional shaving and - mainly- exclusive perfumes.
Jens Poenitzsch opened it in 2006 (I think) and it has become some kind of a well known insiders tip.
I have been a frequent guest in his shop since november and I still have too much to try out.
The service is excellent, the team will do whatever they can to make a transaktion succesful and the customer happy. (shipping etc)

Besides the Knize scents and many other niches the shop also offers some lines that I have rarely heard of or read about: Linari, Marc Buxton (the whole line is simply amazing) etc.

I have to admit that right now I am mainly benefitting from his sample selling, I just want to give the intoxicating ones more than one whiff before shooting a whole bottle and besides, there are so many incredibly fragrances in those 2 rooms, it would be a shame not to give them their try.

So whenever you should find yourself in Berlin with time at your hand, pay the different scent a visit.

You ought to add this to the German/Berlin thread in the City Shopping Guides. I've found these very useful when travelling.

They also have an online shop, www.thedifferentscent.de, and offer international shipping.

The site is a little difficult to navigate for English speakers. Does anyone have any additional information on their shipping costs, and sample service? Thanks in advance.

My knowledge in German is not very good, still I remember having ordered samples from the succesfully once! If you click on Proben, you can list samples that you want - they are 3 euro each and the shipping was 9 euro (for Sweden). The arrived quickly and safely - but I think the shipping cost is a little too much for me to do it again.

I think the best way for english people regarding online orders would be jsut to contact them via the contact-us spot or the given email. jens Pönitzsch is a great guy and more than happy to fullfill any wishes as good as he possible and the service is truly amazing.
I havent been to the shop for a while but am meaning to ASAP again.

I've sent various e-mails to this site over the last year and not once have I had a reply, so I stuck with First in Fragrance and Essenza Nobile who are certainly willing to answer and take my money for fragrances.
I put it down to the owner couldn't understand English, hence never a reply?
