Ah yes.. and, in typical mom fashion, sending dozens of delicious cookies just as I'm trying to lose some weight!

Yum, cookies! The weight loss will have to wait a few days, AnthonyDG!

I'm a happy girl; started a vacation today!!!

I went to a restaurant I had never been to before today, and had the best Baba Ghannouj I've ever tasted...mmmmm.

I went to JC Penney and picked up 2 ties, 2 belts, a swimsuit, and a button up shirt all for just under $50

Also picked up these shoes for a mere $45 at Aldo

Good sales just may be my greatest weakness.

Well I have been having some really bad toothache... and before visiting the dentist, i suspected cavity or worse, but after the dental appointment, my dentist said that my teeth were all in good shape and that the pain was most likely from teeth grinding or clenching mostly during sleep. So I had a teeth guard customized and ordered.

Always nice when you get a clean bill of dental health expecting a root canal or something nasty like that! I often get toothaches that I believe are cavities or worse - though most often it's from an old injury I had where I had some nerve damage around those teeth.

I can't think of any worse pain than dental pain... so that's really dodging a bullet

Dodged a bullet I certainly have! I can't imagine going through root canal procedures, nerve damage does give me the chills too... I think my worst experience, and one which I am glad I would never have to go through again is the extraction of ALL FOUR wisdom teeth... I believe I actually teared quite a bit while she was removing them despite the anesthetics. She had to drill and cut each of the bottom wisdom teeth into 2 before unhooking them from the gum so the gum doesn't rip off, but one of the teeth had to break into 4 and she took 45min to an hour just working on removing those pieces from the gum, the anesthetic wore off half way and another jab was required. Overall a very bad experience for me, and I have a fear of dentists now LOL

Went with my husband to his office this morning for a short while, and then he took me for a great lunch downtown at my favorite restaurant in town. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Today we met an in-home caretaker who is going to give my elderly parents some help. We liked her a lot!

Yay, Haunani! That is good news. I know you'll feel better about that.

Oh man.. if I were to have had all four of my wisdom teeth out at the same time I'd be asking for Prince Valium to come save the day.

Why don't they give people "the gas" anymore at any dentist I go to? I heard the gas would often leak out and get the dentists/assistants "high" after breathing it in all day.

Tell me about it! I hear that some dental clinics offer general anesthetics, but the one I go to only has local jabs. Still it would be a disaster to have a "tripping" dentist operate on us

Yes. The day began...rather unpromising.

---And then, a very good friend wanted to cheer me up so she took me to see Janet Klein and her Parlor Boys at the Steve Allen Theater. I wasn't expecting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GmcE...eature=related start it at 3:01--unless you really want to learn the ukulele--but though she's featured in a number of other You Tube clips, e.g; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA15mMQELMM none of them do her justice.
Truly wonderful ragtime--1920's and turn of the century songs! Who'd have thunk it? I had never heard of her before.
She was a blast!
An absolutely delightful evening. I had a great time.

Cheers,

Mario

I went to see a loved one perform in a choral showcase today.
She just finished some classes at our local college's arts and music summer thingie.
(The Augusta Heritage Festival)
It was so amazing! I bawled my eyes out.
They sang ballads, gospel, swing, yodeling, vaudeville ...
All of is this done by talented men and women of all ages in a beautiful little chapel on my very own college campus. WOW. I'm so lucky. And tonight I might go square dancing.

Arrived at JFK with tons of bags on my way home from three weeks vacation and did not have to pay a cent. It pays to be nice, humourous and laid-back sometimes-trust me.

Best,

Nice hearing good things at the end of a long day! I finished a 12 hour stretch in the studio with a composer friend I haven't worked with for a few years - 6 new pieces in 6 days done . . . exhausting but so nice to be making music with a dear friend again.

Thanks, Matt. Not sure how to go about this without being intrusive / pushy here but will figure out how to do this somehow when it's all done

I have the good fortune of working at a bank that's open 7 days a week... and since we're short staffed, I tend to get volunteered to pull weekend shifts. Which normally wouldn't be a good thing, but it's the opposite of busy today as all of our customers are scared off by the NASCAR fans that have poured in for the races this weekend. So I'm getting paid overtime to surf Basenotes... nice!

I'm deeply grateful that Hurricane Bill did not cause any major damage on the island as it passed us. There was some folliage damage and some beaches got a beating but all in all with the high gusts and sporadic heavy rains we came out ok.

Best,

2 good things happened to me today amidst my doom and gloom .

1.I have a sample of Idylle by Guerlain ! Thank you !

2. My wild/ pet Bluejay nicknamed " The Bird " ( he comes at least 3 times day for food and water ) - has finally learnt that the sunflower seeds I put out for him are for him and he has finally allowed me to stand within half a meter of him when he eats. This just blows me away - he's a wild bird !

This is a nice and inspirational thread, a teaching tool for us all on how to be grateful for every single little positive thing occurring in our lives. Thanks to all for sharing!

Yesterday I have discovered that I can like Neapolitan ice-cream (vanilla-strawberry-chocolate) whereas before I could not understand the artificial additives and the charm produced by the combo.

I got an almost unlimited quantity of pleasant and also highly interesting messages (regarding mainly subjects which really fascinate me, like film-making, music and fashion) from more than one of my good and close friends today.

Believe me-Nitrous Oxide is the business ! When I was in labor, the first thing they gave me was Nitrous Oxide. it was hilarious - literally - I couldn't stop laughing. My husband then wanted some when the nurse wasn't looking and we both ended up in fits of giggles ,crying with laughter.

Congrats on the new car ! It's lovely ! I'm sorry delivery will take so long though . ( The old Fiesta ( 90s model ) is the car I learnt to drive on ! )

Today I am feeling so much better so I am thankful for that plus I no longer look like I should be at a Halloween party ! Yippeeee !
I also went back to the gym and I am so glad for that. Part of me is missing if I am not doing my yoga -dance, weights and cardio .

Thanks a lot mysticknot. I can still change the color up until the first of January, and I probably will.

Today I found my Black Aoud spritzer after I lost it 3 days ago. I had to take the whole closet out and rearrange it before finding it. Took me half an hour, but I'm a happy man again.

I'm actually going to pick up my new used car today and I can't wait

Well firstly- yesterday I got a load of samples from dear Basenoter friends- like the universe was trying to cheer me up after a bad day !That was great.

Today , 'the bird' - this would be my adopted wild bluejay - came right up to me when I was sitting outside thinking how fat and cute he had become. When I first started feeding him ,he was a scrawny little thing and now he looks healthy and squeezable. When I am away ,my husband has promised to look after him ,feed him cake as a treat and be Daddy . Sounds very wuzzy doesn't it- well I am a wuzz .

What a great thread!

Received a long awaited pasta sauce recipe from a friend today. Looking forward to trying out his old family secret recipe.

Exploring education options, I may become a full time student at the beginning of the year...

Although it brings bad luck to talk about one's professional plans in advance, what the heck, I'd be glad to share this joy:

I nearly secured myself the order of a major customer.

A trio of good things today:

1. The toilet seats I ordered arrived yesterday, and I installed them today! The best part is that they work WONDERFULLY! I've never been so excited about toilet seats before. (They have a built-in potty seat for Aiona Jr. that flips up and is held in place magnetically.)

2. The fact that I got stale urine on my hair meant I had to take a shower, and I got to re-spritz my favorite perfume.

3. Husband has a cold, and so he can't smell. YAY! I can spritz with abandon!

I have worked with several older and infirm relatives in the last couple of weeks, and the deep satisfaction I get from visiting with them has been a tremendous charge to my energy and positive mental outlook. I thank the universe for allowing me to obtain this rich experience and education.

Went for a drive today, my teenage son was doing the driving, for once he didn't scare the **** out of me, he actually drove extremely well, did two great parallel parking jobs, probably better than me! I was proud of him. We had a great shopping trip, and a wonderful talk as well. I have two teenage sons and they are the lights of my life. A good day.

Hi, rtamara41! It was a combination of Wylde Ivy's "Green Grass" and Anucci Man.

In keeping with the theme of the thread, today, I found out my violin bows are finished, and are being shipped back to us this week. That was surprisingly quick!
