We are experiencing some "June Gloom" which I love. Chilly, overcast weather is much better than the blazing heat that will come soon. Bulgari Black and a hot cup of coffee goes so great with these mornings.

The hype about this discontinued gem is warranted - it's lovely stuff.

Wearing Kenzo Power again today from my Sephora sample. I like it. I am not used to such a powdery frag but I still like it.

Today I'm trying my first test of a Parfumerie Generale, their semi-new Louanges Profanes.

This one started out pretty odd, but got nice.

The opening smelled like menthol and something vaguely aquatic - the closest thing I could compare it to are those big blue sore throat lozenges, or maybe Aim gel toothpaste.

After about an hour, a strong baby powder came in over the weirdness, eventually bringing the blue menthol to an end.

The menthol strangeness was replaced by a peppery bread note, still under the heavy powder.

Eventually, the pepper subsided and some light florals came in.

For the last few hours, this has basically smelled like L'Heure Bleue (weird spicy bread) with powder on top and a bit of flowers peeking through the powdery haze.

Recommended for L'Heure Bleue fans who want something more powdery and feminine, who are willing to wait through an hour of completely unrelated and strangely masculine topnotes...

Tonight is my first sampling of Escentric Molecules Escentric 01, and this is really a confusing scent. Up close it smells like cedar and celery, not good. But I keep getting wafts of something that smells SO good, and I'm thinking to myself, this can't possibly be that cedar and celery monstrosity can it? Weird.

Christian Dior Cologne Blanche

I've been wearing this every single evening/night for the last couple days. Adds a nice refreshment in the summer heat and I love splashing it on (though I sprayed it on today). I may finish my bottle by the end of summer. I also re-tried the Bois d'Argent and it's lovely stuff. I may rock it a lot this summer as well.

A too-late-and-no-one's-going-to-read-it post for my SOTE:

Montale White Aoud.

The top was oud, but really toned down. Its medicinal ferocity was squashed by huge doses of powder, while there was barely a rose to be seen. The oud then basically faded, leaving Montale's weird powdery super-sweet but somehow-not-very-gourmand vanilla marzipan base that turned me off of some of their non-oud selections. There's some flowers here, but it's more of a loukhorn (spelling??) effect than a real floral.

So, all in all, this shapes up to be Montale's Sweet Oriental Dream fragrance with some oud just to keep it from smelling too edible.

Recommended to people who don't like oud but want to try something with it, just to see.

Or people who don't like gourmands unless there's something sort of rubbery and gross in it (A*Men or Bulgari Black fans, maybe)
