We had sardines salad with extra goodies added. It was pretty good, actually. Hubby ate his and half of mine. I'm having a glass of club soda now.

DNT, I hope the exam goes (went) well!

You both were much more sensible! It was a celebration lunch, so this is far from typical. I felt like hibernating for the rest of the winter after, and skipped dinner this evening. I probably shouldn't eat all weekend.

Eating: Just olives

Perfect for a night in with a friend and a film. Sadly the film was a bit naff, but hey, if everything was perfect itd be Heaven and for that you have to be dead . . .

I had a very rich breakfast of salmon hash over some kind of wilted baby green (escarole?) with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, and two *mimosas* but with pomegranate juice not orange, and a very nice Sencha tea, and a small piece of really great artisinal bread slathered with butter. I'm stuffed. But it was worth it.

Egyptian sweets! Basuba ( honey-drowned cake ), Conafa ( sort of hay-like phyllo ), Ledida ( sort of a chewy honey-nougat-praline hybrid ), and Azizaya ( kind of like an Arabized creme caramel ).

Given food prices in Canada, I don't feel criminal in gaining a few pounds before I leave.

Daniel, haha great.

Lilybelle, yummmmmmm.

Sugandaraja, lol those are delicious. Enjoy.

That is just lovely. You've probably gained 70 days of healthier life.

Its plain Lipton tea boiled in water for double the amount of time you would usually do for a normal cup of tea, then add rainbow milk (condensed milk) , sugar and spices You can add all three or any combination:

Cardamom (whole not powder)
Cloves (whole)
Saffron

We enjoy 2 parts saffron, 2 parts cardamom and 1 part clove.

Then let boil for a good 8 minutes. It should not be watery nor should it be too creamy. Just enough texture to differentiate it from regular tea with milk.
If you are able to, pour from the pot to the glass or cup from a height so that its partially frothed (aerated) which give it the extra nice texture.

A tip to get the most out of the saffron is to let the saffron infuse in 5ml of scorching hot water for a few minutes. Then pour this into the cooking tea , milk and other spices. Reason is saffron requires either a lot of time or a lot of heat to infuse fully.

(not my photo)

Ok Hedonist! I am making your tea recipe. It's cooling on the stove right now! Thanks for posting it. Smell great.

PS I might have to skip pouring it from a high height as I have one arm in a cast...

Fleurine, I hope your arm gets better soon!

I've made us a lentil salad. It has green lentils, rice, shredded carrots, minced celery & onion with a lemon juice/ginger/walnut oil dressing. I thought it might be a little weird, but it tastes pretty good. Those toss-whatever-you-have-in salads are pretty forgiving. We'll have that on some romaine lettuce leaves with some grilled grouper tonight.
