What I will be eating over the summer...

I've been miserable since I moved here to Greensboro as I am renting until I know just what I want to buy and where. THis has kept me from gardening and forced me to purchase my delecatbles. I am fortunate to have two thriving farmers markets close to my home. I know who's got the best of what and I make sure I get there early and often to procure what I need...

THat said, herbs are ridiculously expensive. I can jack up the price of a dish by 25% or more by needing just a teaspoon of this or a 1/2c of chopped that. So I'm planting what I use most often in portable containers.

two types of Sage, tarragon, two types of oregano and english thyme...

three types of Basil and lots of Rosemary...

THe whole works, 30 gallons and about 8 sq ft total. I am sure I'll be transplanting again as things get bigger, but hopefully I'll be keeping it knocked back enough with my cooking that this will suffice for 90% of my needs. I have one more container to build for my chives.

Bon appetit!

I just had a pancake made from amaranth flour, scattered with some of those tiny wild blueberries (frozen) that have a much more intense blueberry flavor than the big plump farmed ones. With a dab of ghee and some agave syrup drizzled over. Yum, yum. That is a perfect breakfast for me. I can go all day on that.
