Eating: A roll of Mozzarella cheese, Prosciutto, and Basil.

Drinking: Iced Tea with Lime

The plating may be lacking, but when I got off the plane yesterday, I went out and got some fresh salmon and greens and made my homage to NOLA - grilled salmon (sesame oil, shoyu, mirin - okay so that was asian) with mashed butternut squash (butter, splash of milk, salt, raw sugar and cinnamon), penne with sauce (okay, well so that was italian - I AM back in Joisy) and mixed greens with feta cheese, olives, red onion and balsamic vinagrette (hmmm....sounds Greek)
Okay so my point is that I felt like cooking something colorful, vibrant and from the sea!

And we got this from a Lebanese restaurant (APOM? lol). Too bad they drown it in french fries.

My lunch is "Guaitiao Rad Na Moo" (A wide rice noodles in a creamy sauce with porks and kales.)

It looks somewhat like this, but with pork.

I am sick of varity of take-away where I work now so it is good that they offer something different once in a while.

Cervelle de Veau sauteed in butter and garlic and served over wild brown rice and diced eggs.

An unusual treat for me: A ground pork burger served on a toasted English muffin with Dijon mustard and a generous spoonful of mango-ginger chutney. Haute cuisine junk food? Maybe, and certainly a cholesterol and sugar bomb. But hey, it sure is delicious, and probably even easy to make at home...
Earlier today at a restaurant, I had Enchiladas Poblanas and two frozen margaritas.

Cheese and Nutella are beacons in the snack realm.

Hedonist222, the food looks wonderful. Perfect, actually, and I'm SO hungry right now, not a good time to be reading this thread! A few cashews is what I'm having for a snack, but now I want some real food!

The picture sucks but the food was delish Grilled goose breast with mashed potatoes and plums...

Looks delish. I love the flavor plums add to meat. The Iranians slow cook meat with plums until the plums dissolve and only the pits are left. Divine.

When you mentioned what it was, I vaguely remember eating it at an Indian restaurant in New York a few years ago. The pictures above are wonderful. I am sure you both had a great time. I have got to get myself to your country and experience UAE society before I get too old to travel. I have been in many Arab countries: Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Kuwait, Syria, and Bahrein, and I lived in Iran for two years in Mashhad 1977-1979 before Khomeini, but I am a shopper, and if you are a shopper one must go to Dubai, am I right? The food is just icing on the cake!

I'd suggest to go to an upscale indian restaurant to have proper achar.
I love traveling and aspire to travel as much as you have.
You are most correct. Dubai is a shopper's haven. Almost everything is available here and it's tax free too.
I'd suggest reserving Dubai as a layover for shopping on your way back from fat east Asia. It's a splendid place to break your journey be spoiled by the opulent hotels, food and culture.

All the beautiful pix! Lately a favorite thing to make has been beef steak with polenta and kale.
