All frag and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I've had a great time with all of you over the past two or three years, but I'm a) busier than a one-armed paper hanger (a.k.a. busier than a whore on dime night) these days and b) positively saturated in frags these days. (Literally and otherwise.)

I'm going to have a friend list the better part of my HUGE collection over the next few months. I think she'll be listing it in batches on eBay. Once she has it all listed, I'll post the URL's so you can all go and bid.

I want to get to the point that I have all of ten or twelve bottles on my bureau -- no more.

It's nothing personal, folks. I have made many, many dear friends during my time on Basenotes, and want to keep and nurture those friendships. I just have way too much on my plate right now.

I have enjoyed your posts and have learned alot (not just fragrances).

it'd be a great loss, especially to our reviews section...i look up to your reviews and can relate to all of them. for eg. ur review of Balenciaga Ph, only you've mentioned the combination of scents tht i was thinkin of too which is, Kouros+Lapidus for men.

"Out goes the flame of enlightenment!" If this sounds a little dramatic to some, others may remember a few precious conversations back 'in those days'. There is more to life than its sweet perfume! You have been an eye opener in more than one way, and there are your perfume reviews to always come back to. Good trails, indeed. Thank you for all you gave to various communities, tvlampboy !

Matt, I had noticed your absence from the boards lately so I guess I am not totally surprised. I was, however, hoping that you were just recharging yourself.

As everyone else has said, please stop in from time to time and say hi - you will be missed!

It's been a true pleasure, Matt. Your presence here has been one of the things I most enjoyed about Basenotes. You will be missed, but also fondly remembered.

Don't know how you can whittle your 'robe down to 10 frags, I'll be lucky to get down to 100. I'll also never know how you got your hands on so many frags, it boggles the imagination.

Matt, so sorry to see you go!! I understand, though, having done a bit of purging myself. I just have one more frag I want, then the plan is to just use what I have for the next year. If you & Paul are ever in the area I'd love to do dinner!! (how many years have we been saying that?)

I can empathize with your feelings of needing to get away and focus on other things--been there myself several times. I won't lie, it can be just what the doctor ordered for a while. Hopefully you'll get to the point where you want to come back and start fresh again.

I totally understand as well. Like many of us here have said, I am trying to trim the fat off my drobe as well. It was getting too bulky so I took inspiration from some fine basenoters here and decided to part with a few loved ones in my collection and donate them to a better home. My ultimate goal is to have no more than 10 and 7 would be even better! Can I live with this? Who knows. Good luck and come back when you've rested.
