Well, this may actually be his 2nd good effort - the other one being Hindu Grass.

IMHO of course, because I know there are lots of folks here who absolutely love one of his other scents and can't stand HG.

Will try this for sure.

We'll see. Eh... smell, I mean.

I love Hindu Grass too, I would buy it in a heartbeat if it were more affordable. It is the only fragrance I have smelled, besides the uber-expensive Bolt of Lightning by JAR, that smells so grassy and alive when I wear it.

Looking forward to this one and new By Kilian also.

Just smelled this and this may be his best release to date. This even surpassed Duro. So all you Duro fans take note. This is Duro kicked up with patchouli and hashish smell. Sweet, syrupy, dark, smokey all explain this wonderful scent. Contrary to what people think, you will not be walking around smelling like you just hit a big pipe. Although there is definitely a hashish note in it, it is a very expensive hashish note. Not Tijuana dirty weed. This is some good stuff. Will be out at the end of August.

Octavion at 1000 Fragrances just posted an update about this scent: the perfumer who created it for Nasomatto was Alessandro Gualtieri (Versus by Versace, Diesel + and Diesel ++)

The SA at Luckyscent tested it, she said it was great - pretty dark and smoky and probably better for cooler weather.

I own and enjoy Duro and Hindu Grass. Black Afgano is strong and long lasting like we've come to expect from Nasomatto. I sampled it on 3 separate days so I could be sure how I felt about BA. It's extremely interesting because it smells like no other, which is a major plus in my book. On all 3 samplings I jsut didn't feel I wanted to smell like hashish - and as "cairomerta" said it does smell like high quality hash. I grew up in the sixties so I've got alot of experience in smelling hashish. I think most people who haven't smoked hash would think it stinks. I believe one of the reasons people like the smell is because they have enjoyed the effects of smoking it - then the smell is related back to smelling good. The first time I smelled hash I thought it stank.

The bottom line is I never felt like I wanted to smell like Black Afgano. I look at it like an experiment in what can be done in perfumery. I truly believe the wearer won't be getting any positive comments when out in public(not that any are needed). I think you might get some comments that you stink. It's the kind of smell that makes most people uncomfortable. Only us crazy scent lovers will appreciate Black Afgano for its uniqueness. It could be fun for wearing to bed, just not in public. For me, I still won't be wearing it to bed.
I can only say it's interesting, I enjoyed sampling, but I didn't feel the need to sample again.
