Which do you like better? I'm wearing Patchouli Leaves today and note similatities to L'Air du Desert Marocain, but I think Patchouli Leaves is softer and less intrusive, if that makes any sense.

What do you think?

L'Air, definitely.

I didn't find them to be overly similar on me, though

Oh buzzley, they're totally unrelated! I've got both and wouldn't consider one in place of the other.

(you need both )

I agree with jrd4t, I don't really get any similarities between the two, but to me, Patchouli Leaves is the better scent. I'm a fan of the patchouli though. Those around me also liked Patchouli Leaves more on me than L'Air.

Both great but utterly unrelated....it's like comparing Knize Ten to Carnal Flower.

I don't find them similar. I prefer L'Air over Patchouli Leaves.

Both are overwhelming power bombs of permeating odor that just hang in the air and cling to the wearer all day long. Don't care for Patchouli Leaves as Montale's amber notes really turn me off. LDM is a nice scent although I don't know that I would ever wear it if I had it.

I'm wearing like 3 times this week, on both regular and formal occasion. I think this scent is very friendly and versatile (only 2 sprays please!).

Apples and oranges. Or should I say patchouli and incense? At any rate, I think the two have less than nothing in common stylistically.

My bank account says thank you very much!

OK, I got out my sample of LAir and am wearing it today. They are more different than I thought, but I guess it was the sweet ambery characteristic I noticed in Patchouli Leaves that made me think of LAir. Nevertheless, I really like Patchouli Leaves and think Im going to buy it. Im still not sure about LAir, although Im wearing less today than I have before, and it seems less oppressive and actually quite pleasant.

BTW, what gives LAir the slightly musty smell I detect? I suppose it must be some sort of incense.

Thanks again for your input.

In all likelihood it's frankincense, which can have a very dry, dusty olfactory consistency.

and L'Air does have a distinct patchouli note in the drydown. Just enough.

Patchouli Leaves by far.

Hmmm....Is that based on smell or country of production/size of bottle?

I can see very distant similiarity between them... maybe if you remove spices and incense from L Air you could get something similiar to Patchouli Leaves. Tauer is IMO more complex, masculine and overall interesting scent.

Both are great, not similar to me at all
