I gave it 3 stars just for longevity and projection (which is amazing), this thing lasts forever.. Sprayed it a few times/several days and just couldn't understand the hype behind it. I like...
Sel de Vetiver opens with a grapefruit note that is sweet, watery, and marked by an odd salty quality that makes it completely unique. If that's all the scent did, and it just lasted like that...
I was pleasantly surprised with the fragrance when I compared it to Allure Homme Sport. I think it beat AHS by a lot and was an easy purchase at the mall. I'm a big fan of tonka bean though so...
It's not leathery like Knize Ten, Cuirnde Russe and Bandit. It's a sweet'ish violets, cardamom & leather with a subtle myrrh & sandalwood dry down.
I enjoyed the opening & dry down more than the...
Oh, c'mon, this is one of most lovely Guerlain creations... The drydown has a slightly powdery vanilla, which I love... Very delicate... A citrus raspberry sorbet enhanced with a extremely...
This is very large (6 1/2" high x 4 3/4" wide), more for decoration.
It has a pattern of ginko leaves on it.
You can barely see the outline of the intact dauber inside.
This is a 'Moser' type. Covered in enameled decoration.
This is Czechoslovakian cut glass from around the 1920's-30's.
I found an all clear version in Miller's book of
perfume bottles valued at between $1000-2000!
(I paid about $40)
Graniture de toilette Enfants by Lalique
There is a number '3' engraved on both the stopper and the base. 'Lalique France' is written on the base as well.
What wonderful additional to your dreamlike collection of bottles. Is Vaseline glass always that haunting chartreuse? I know nothing about it, but I am intrigued. When is it from?
I can't help but voyeristically appreciate the little views of your lovely home, too. I just love your whole playful, warmhearted, yet-elegant aesthetic.
Thank-you, Hillaire & 3nines! You are too kind! I think vaseline glass is some crazy kind that has a chemical in it- it is that bright yellow green you see & it flouresces (sp?) under a black light. Maybe it is uranium or something. I'm not sure. I don't think it's dangerous; at least I hope not!
What a lovely collection, display and setting! Thank you so much for sharing Kumquat, I am going to pore over these photos in more detail when I have time to revisit this thread from the very beginning. So lovely
Kumquat- those bottles are gorgeous and exquisite. I love your collection .Thanks for giving us a look .
1+. And so well photographed. I love the snowy white house in the background of some of the photos! So peaceful and still. I adore your milk glass bottles!
Oh, why did I not pay this thread a visit before? Sooooooooo lovely and as everybody said - well photographed! Big big congrats, kumquat! It always impresses and also touches me when I see so much dedication and love for something.
A gold Devilbiss. A Silver mercury glass with polka-dots.
The old 'Paris' bottle is a mystery scent with a mis-matched stopper but some great filagree.
Green with gold trim, also Devilbiss, and the really old 'Bohemian' style atomizer with enamel decorations.
In back, a 'Moser' type with gold enamel decoration.
This was listed as Loetz, I believe this is a 'millefiore' type.
A red-top Caron Narcisse bottle. A very early bohemian style cranberry glass atomizer with enamel decoration.
Sabino, perfume & powder box/case. (It's hard to see, those are swallows on the powder box.)
Hi kumquat , my pleasure . I collect this type of glass and also like perfume bottles of which I have a smalll collection. If you ever decide you could part with it I would be interested . regards mrt0z
hi This is actually Lapis glass named after the stone Lapis Lazuli which was much prized in ancient times the Pharos having costly objects made from it buried with them in their tombs.
. Malachite is green. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=la...w=1067&bih=722

hi this is not by Joseph Hoffman but Heinrich Hofffman .
Heinrich Hoffmann (1875 - 1939 ) was prominent among glass makers at the luxury level of vanity glass production. http://czechperfumebottles.webs.com/...lbumid=8958291

What a stunning bottle!
Hi, are you talking about the green glass one with the woman on top? It doesn't seem to be listed under Heinrich on this website. (Thanks for this website, BTW, I'm joining up!) However, I do have this one I pasted in, with the ivy leaves in the malachite. I haven't photographed it yet.
Thanks for setting me straight on the malachite/lapis thing. Of course I knew lapis was blue. I don't know why I called it malachite, DOH!
Do you happen to know how I can get some values assigned to these bottles? You've been most helpful.
I just do seaches on the net to get a rough idea whet some thing is worth. It varies as to where and when and who is selling . A small store or a private person or in an up market store in New York or major capital city arround the world .
your green lady is a very desirable.
I specially loved the red czech cut glass from the 20s and the fantastic Garniture Enfants de Lalique which I believe this one in particular is from the 70s!
Thanks, CastorP., So the Lalique is from the 70's? That explains why I was able to afford it. I thought I got a good price on it.
Just hold onto it for a coupke of years, I recently (this year) saw a similar one at an auction and it actually went for about 4000 USD, which is not too shabby I thought it was going for less but it was a great surprise.
Again, Thank you for sharing such wonderful collection!
WOW! is there a symbol for fainting? I can't believe I was able to get this one for around $250. I thought it might be worth $1200 or so. It just shows that these things fluctuate wildly.
Another beauty Kumquat . I too would hesitate about cleaning the silver .
Edit : posting at the same time ...... Lovely bottles Kumquat . What treasures !
