Love the Carons, Kumquat !!

I think somebody may have been confused.

It was probably me....I think I misread the posts on this thread and remembered other posts I'd seen elsewhere....

Does that Mo-called "fan bottle" have a name? It is lovely....can you imagine it full of scent? What a decadent treasure!

'Fan top" works for me. I've seen it called the 'Baccarat Bottle", too.
My fear of calling it "Baccarat Bottle" is that not all fan-shaped bottles were actually made by Baccarat, and Guerlain has a few other Baccarat-designed bottles that are a different shape....Yours is so gorgeous, kumquat. I don't even particularly like Shalimar (sacrilege, I know, for a vintage lover like me!), but I'm enthralled by that bottle!

I like it especially because a friend gave it to me & it came with a great story.
Wow. Such loveliness. Thank you for sharing your beautiful collection. You must look high and low to find such treasures!!

Yellow cut crystal victorian? (Very heavy) Orange Devilbiss pair next to Oeillet bottle which is finally open. Yes, it's carnation. Straight-forward, deep & creamy soliflore.
Then, the gentleman's bottle with it's inner stopper. The odd gold bottle which could lay flat, but how? Olive & gold Irice next to a deeply cut gold crystal antique travel flask.
And a carved black rose which may be by Hoffman. I have not seen this in any books.

Left to right: Deco piece, red cut crystal victorian flask, deco hand-painted atomizer, malachite (Ingrid?), heavy brilliant cut victorian crystal (Stopper fits the hand perfectly!),
french opaline with gold stars, brilliant cut lay-down travel flask, mexican silver deco, Caron 'Colony' bottle still fragrant!.

Kumquat- your collection never ceases to amaze me and I think it's wonderful . Good on you ,girl !

Thank-you, dear. I try for the most part to get things in a reasonable price range. I have the most fun with the odd ones that are orphans because they are too weird. I got the black rose for very little. (Around $30) It looks much better since I cleaned it. I decided the atomizer bulbs are of no consequence. it's the design of the vessel that interests me.
I understand completely- I like the design of bottles too - a very interesting and rewarding hobby . I love to learn the history of the bottles too . Anything made of glass fascinates me . I really love looking at Laliques - not just bottles but the figurines . Well Kumquat , you have great taste and I wish you much success finding more wonderful interesting treasures and keeping us informed.

I saw a sunbeam on the kitchen counter and couldn't resist making this glam shot. I hope you'll indulge me.
I am letting the Infini sit in the cupboard with alcohol dripping on the seal every now &
then alternating with a shot of lubricant. It is currently still sealed.

AAAAARGH! GET THAT PERFUME OUT OF THE LIGHT!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

You see? I've been here a short time, and that is the first response I have to that beautiful photo! It's a disease!

Beautiful, kumquat. I love that your love of fragrance led to a love of perfume bottles which has also led to a minor (!) side hobby in photographing antique perfume bottles.....

A gold Devilbiss. A Silver mercury glass with polka-dots.
The old 'Paris' bottle is a mystery scent with a mis-matched stopper but some great filagree.

Green with gold trim, also Devilbiss, and the really old 'Bohemian' style atomizer with enamel decorations.
In back, a 'Moser' type with gold enamel decoration.

This was listed as Loetz, I believe this is a 'millefiore' type.

A red-top Caron Narcisse bottle. A very early bohemian style cranberry glass atomizer with enamel decoration.

Sabino, perfume & powder box/case. (It's hard to see, those are swallows on the powder box.)

I pulled the trigger on my holiest of grails ever...DJEDI. If you've never tasted this one, it is the driest, crispiest, green chypre in modern times.
A glorious classic made when the last of the Guerlains was still alive to oversee the process.

I....I......I.....

I wish I lived next door to kumquat. Not only because she'd be so much fun to hang out with, but because she has such pretty, nice-smelling toys!

I would love to get my hands on a bottle of Djedi some day.

Congratulations, I'm very envious!

YIPPEEE!!!! I am so happy this legendary bottle ended up with such a loving home and will be treasured.

Congratulations!!!

Here's a cabinet that is almost complete for this collection. They have to change some of the connections
(behind the cabinet) for the TV on the wall before I can finish filling this.

Beautiful cabinet of wonderful curiosties and shiny bottles Kumquat.

I found this miniature portrait and decided that at least some of these perfume bottles were the kind she would have used. Now she is in the back of my mind when I look at these.

Cobalt Baccarat(?)hand painted number on bottom-57/66 with gilt decoration followed by a Mt. Washington Pairpoint, also gilded, with new atomizer.

Opaline Mt. Washington glass, then, a green glass atomizer with enamel & gilt applications.

Baccarat (more gilt) carriage coffret with counterweight next to a Sevres with hand-painted flower motif & gilded.

Gorgeous stuff! I can totally imagine the lady in the portrait using that Sevres bottle, or perhaps receiving the coffret from her liveried footman!
Your swelling collection is something to behold and be in awe of kumquat!!! Stunning!
The Baccarat carriage coffret w/counterweight is my favorite amongst this stunning collection you have, kumquat. Gorgeous stuff.
I am still swooning. That Victorian miniature portrait is almost haunting. Her eyes are so expressive and a bit sad, somehow I think she would smell like roses. Beautiful stuffs Kumquat, thank you for sharing

Thanks, everyone. I'm glad you are enjoying these. I was noticing how much the lady in the ivory portrait looks like Princess Diana. also, she seems to have on only one earring. I wonder if that means something. Maybe it indicates she is single or engaged? I will have to give her a name at some point, I suppose. I read a series of diaries based on Josephine's diary & her letters to Napolean. So I'm sort of in that time frame in my head. I've also started reading "The Scented Palace" which is about Marie Antoinette's perfumer.
Kumquat - the bottles are exquisite. Also the picture is very interesting- yes, she has one earring- a hidden message perhaps ? I see the Princess Diana resemblance- maybe it's how she would have dressed in another era. Fascinating !
Perhaps it's her ancestor, Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, seen below:

Wow, that's a beautiful painting of a beautiful woman! I loved the film about her with Keira Knightly. It doesn't look like my portrait, but it's a gorgeous image.

This red glass is quite heavy & seems very old. The bottom is polished smooth & flat. Then, a gold encrusted Devilbiss atomizer from the 1920's.

Victorian crystal cut from cobalt blue to clear. Remnants of gold can be seen in the etched design. Followed by Ingrid design black glass with satin carved stopper.

Blue opaline pre-1900? and Victorian cut leaded yellow crystal pair. Then, a pale green opaline Moser type.

Deco figure with stopper & Marcel Franck in pink.
Oooh, I love the Art Nouveau decoration of the first atomiser -- I got all excited at first, because I thought there existed some vintage scent called "Devil Bliss" and I needed to smell it...but Google tells me it is merely a bottle designer named DeVilbiss. Not nearly as much fun. Still love the bottle, though!

Thank-you, Castorpollux.
I have a little overflow so I am spreading them around the house.
Here are a few I've put out for decoration with some powder boxes.

I love the lady fiugrine bottle with the Louise Brooks hair - beautiful, Kumquat. I love your collection and I love to look at it all here so, thanks !

Some Art Nouveau bottles done in silver. The hand blown glass is very lightweight.
At the back is a large factice.

Several green bottles new to the collection.

Moser type, enamel decorated.
Very lovely Kumquat- I love art nouveau and I am also lately, into the colour green .
gorgeous feast for the eyes! I especially love the figural designs best. And of course the Tabac Blond is the one I meet in my dreams!
Kimquat,

These really are the quality of a museum exhibit. And this isn't exageration - I've been to the Corning Glass Museum often enough to know. You really should consider a self-published coffee table book. I believe that on-line, on demand publishing now makes this possible with no more investment that the photography you've already done.

Mystic, I love the green, too!
Rtamara, Thanks, Tabac is the best. I agree!
ECaruthers, I will look into a book. I've been thinking about it, actually. Thanks for the encouragement!

I can't stop coming back to browse. These do my soul good.
I wholeheartedly second the book project idea.

This is supposed to be by Apollo I believe. It is actually somewhat lightweight.

I believe this is either a Lubin or inspired by Lubin.
I think it is called an 'opaline' type glass.
Any info is appreciated!
Kumquat, these photos, your collection ...it takes my breath away!

dimitri said it ....."thud!"

I second, rather "third" the suggestion of a book.

Thank-you, RHM. I am pretty excited about this recent Lubin bottle. It was my Christmas present to myself.

That's some collection you have there. I feel less guilty about mine now!
Beautiful and awesome running collection Kumquat! I have never seen so many pretty glass bottles in my life. I used to collect antiques when I was younger. These are just stunning. OH and the pictures you take are great too.

Here is something new I just found. It is around 9" tall!
Vaseline glass. I haven't cleaned it yet. I was so excited to show it to you.
The etching/cutting is very deep & sharp!

A lovely Valentine's gift. This is by Steuben glass, although it is not signed.
It is very heavy and so beautiful!

This is a new piece I believe may be french.

Art glass with gold mica flecks. Pewter top. This will make a great bud vase.
A dark purple iris would be lovely.

The green bottle on the left is new. The bronze figure on the top is a mystery.
Maybe a lion? The gold Moser bottle to the right is also newer to the collection.

This little egg is probably french, too.
The white inside the lid is padding for the stopper.
I think the legs are bronze.

A french 'boule'. This is only about 2&1/2" tall.
It is heavy glass but it fits perfectly in the hand.
It is purse sized.

Powder blue melon-shaped piece from the turn of the century?
Looks like maybe late 1800's & french to me. Any info is appreciated.
