A crazy L'Heure Bleue auction

A 2 oz. L'Heure Bleue extrait from probably late 70s or early 80s just ended for 1000US$. The text is leading people to believe that it's a crystal Baccarat and extremely old and rare, but the photos show its modern plastémeri stopper and the base proving that it's NOT Baccarat, and a plastic batch label showing that it's not very vintage. The text also dates the bottle to 1967, but that's just the copyright year of the box design. The latest true Baccarat crystal 80 ml bottle of L'Heure Bleue extrait (sealed, full) went on eBay for 254 US$, and last year, a 125 ml bottle of the same age and edition like the one for sale now sold for 150€. I hope no-one on BN won this crazy auction...

The link got chopped, can you repost it?

I was "watching" this item on ebay because I too thought it looked too good to be true. As the prices were climbing yesterday I was curious to see what it would achieve. WOW is all I can say!

I'll see if I can do anything about it

Put 'L'heure Bleue' in search field and look for completed listings.
You'd find it there

hehe, no worries

I asked the seller about it, and got shot down pretty hardcore :P

I never said it was baccarat glass. I said it was designed by Baccarat. Go back to the auction and read my description. As for the date on the box that is the manufacturing date 1967. I didn't make it up. Unless you work for Guerlain you probably know as much as I do or less. Is there anything I can help you with?

The bottle was not designed by Baccarat, but by Raymond Guerlain, and he's wrong on the manufacturing date - it's simply the box design date. I'm sure the seller didn't mean to cheat deliberately, but he surely succeeded in making it all look much more valuable than it is. Under normal circumstances, this bottle would go for maximum 200 US$...

Oh, he most likely doesn't know / didn't mean to list it as such, but by the sounds of it it doesn't sound like he's open to listening about it hehe.

The date code doesn't work in the datecalculator webpage tho
post #12 of 17
alacious, I think you ought to repeat Mr Guerlain's info in a second message to the seller - that would most certainly prove that you do know more than he does!

haha, or just make him angry
And why not? *sniggers*
Wow, such anger towards a possible buyer...
I too watched this with some amazement. My BS radar for ebay has been on orange alert lately, and well, this listing just made it go code red.

Are you the seller? :-)

Where do you see the anger towards any buyer?
