I'm with YOU. And I would add they smell different on different skins. Strips and blotters for me only hint at what might be. That's why my mini-reviews/impressions/reports have the words "in my opinion" and "on my bod" in them.

And why I never give full bottles of frags as gifts unless specifically asked for a specific scent...but I strew samples about unabashedly.

And it's been the impressions (followed by samples!) of BNers here that have been responsible for most of my purchases. Today's is a good example:

First described by Coco who followed it up with a generous sample and then I HAD to have it. A reflective, gossamer rendition of ylang ylang...
on me!

Hi all!

Oud-Girl, nice story about the Tom Fords at Nordstrom... Just wait until the SF meet-up (coming soon!) - Saks has the nicest Tom Ford SA, who is always very generous with the samples. Also, wait until you smell the candles...

My SOTD today was my first test of Bond No 9 Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue.

It kicked off with a nice, very Lutens-esque Feminite du Bois-style violet/cherry/prune top with just enough aldehydes to make it perfumey, as opposed to fruity floral. And then it stayed there. Any woody base is pretty much squashed by the top notes, which have kept going for hours.

No points for originality, but this could be nice for people who enjoy the fruity Lutens top-notes but not the sticky-sweet gourmand basenotes.

That being said, yesterday's Armani Pierre du Lune was a much more nuanced and interesting Lutens copy than this.

Via del Profumo "L"
Hi again everyone.

Today's SOTE has been my first test of Chance by Chanel.

First impression: Wow... They market this to women?? The first blast was huge spice note - dried basil and oregano over a tiny, very overwhelmed bit of citrus.

Half an hour later, everything settled into something very similar to Hanae Mori's H.M. for Men: herbal lemon over chocolatey vanilla.

Nice enough, but I already have a bottle of H.M., which hasn't turned out to be one of my favorites anyway... I wish it had kept going down the herbal path.

Today was Profumo "L" for me too. Love it! I get the same "vibe" as Chanel No.19, even though they really don't share the same notes, at least as far as I can smell.

Good evening all

Oud_Girl, I loved your story about your home, kitty cats make it all worth while. we have 4 and have not been on holiday in years, but it is worth their happy smiley kitty faces. I will start an off-topic on my house hunting, 2 more this weekend.

Tonight I put Parfum Rare on again after showering, it is just that wonderful. It is an 87 scent, just like me. (brielle87) I love 87!

Good night all and pleasant dreams. xoxox

Thank you!

I'm moving across the country soon, so my family came over to cook a 5 course meal, and I hiked along the ocean for possibly the last time in a long time.
