Best Summer Aquatic: Issey Miyake or Bulgari Aqua?

I need to get a new summer fragrance and am debating here....should I stay with Issey Miyake (currently have) or opt for Aqua by Bulgari (not Marine)? Which would you prefer and why? They are both great !

Issey for sure.
I really suggest getting samples of Creed fragrances, particularly Erolfa, Millesimme Imperial, Silver Mountain Water and Himalaya.

That said, my top three summer colognes right now are Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme, Commes des Garcons 2MAN, and Creed Himalaya.

I would choose Unbound.

I personally prefer citrus to aquatic, so I will go with Issey, but try them both, as IMO they are both great frags.

Check this poll to see exactly what everybody thinks of it.

Hint: it's split down the middle

Regardless of the poll, I very much prefer Issey. I sampled Bulgari Aqua and it had too much of a sea or marine note which I really do not care for.

I like Issey. Great staying power, too

Creed Erolfa.

Anyway, I like the Bulgari much better, and I used to be a massive Issey fan. I find the scent more interesting, and much less common. I smell Issey everywhere, in the Elevators at work, on the street, at the beach, etc.

It's definitely my go-to scent when I don't feel like wearing anything expensive on a warm day. The saltiness is really awesome, and it's not nastily oceanic or overly synthetic smelling.

From what I remember, I prefer the Issey as I'm not really into the marine note in Aqua.

Get both

This.

Neither. Try something better like GIT or TH 1805

It's not hard to answer an A or B question, but it never fails that about a third of the members never seem to be capable of anything but C, D, E, F, G..

Issey Miyake

I'm seriously not fond of Aqua. Aqua Marine performs so much better on my skin. I'd say Issey for sure, but give the new Eau d'Ete Summer edition and Aqua Marine before committing to either.

Issey has better longevity and sileage for me, but I prefer Aqua as a fragrance. I used Issey for a few years, but ended up ditching it for Aqua when I was heavily into oceanics.

If you already have Issey, then buy Aqva and switch off with both.

Bvlgari Aqva smells far too spicy and mature to fit properly into the aquatic category to me, and Issey is too herbal and sharp.

Azzaro Chrome is a superior aquatic to both of these, if you want to stay in the designer range. Bond no. 9 Hamptons fills the aquatic role with healthy dose of uniqueness quite well in the niche range.

I had a feeling you would mention Chrome . Chrome does have great longevity, which is nice for a summer aquatic

Both, but I'd also recommend Hugh Parsons Blue.

Issey is great, but simply not for me. I just don't like it. I recognise its greatness, but I don't dig it. I'd go with Aqua, but that's me. De gustibus non est disputandum.

Bvlgari Aqva. I never tire of it.
The sharpness of Issey gives me (and many other here) a headache.

I don't like Bvlgari Aqua or Aqua Marine much. My wife didn't them much either.
A shop near where I work recently had 100ml bottles of them for A$29 (US$23) each, and I passed on them.

So my suggestion is that, if you equally like both Issey and Aqua, get the cheapest.

Bvlgari Aqua is like... HARSH. It's thick and intense and decisively masculine with all of it's marine notes and whatnot. It's like smelling your own sharp sweat drenched in seawater as you're fighting a storm at sea in the middle of the night. It's kind of profound. At the same time it has awful projection on my skin, or maybe I'm anemic and can't smell it that well.

Issey Miyake is a different monster - it's decisively, unmistakeably, uncompromizingly citrusy and refreshing. The japanese citron in the top notes is seriously something out of this world. It's an awesome smell as well, except with powerful projection and longevity.

If you're looking for a FRESH summer fragrance - issey miyake. If you want something subtle but different - go with Aqua but I'm warning you - you might be disappointed in it's "freshness". The word "aqua" is really misleading in the name. it's a THICK smell.
