What determines feminine or masciline scents

There are no rules, really, for masculine or feminine scents. On this board, we have people who gender-bend all the time. I am a woman who will wear just about any scent that I fancy, even the more "manly" scents.

IMHO, overall, the more "floral" a scent, the more feminine it is perceived. The spicier, the more masculine. That is only for me, keep in mind. I picked up a sample of Allure Homme for my husband and he asked if it was one of my new perfumes.

I say wear what you like and forget the label or the bottle! P.S. I am not a "younger" gal, but a gal all the same. LOL!

Art of Shaving does a very, very nice sandalwood. And of course there's Tam Dao and MPG Santal Noble. I'd also like to recommend TDC Rose Poivree and Le Labo Rose 31.

You could head to the Market Place section, Items for sale, run a search for Homage. Usually if there is a split going on, it is quite blatantly shown on the title. Just PM the OP of the particular thread if you want in. In recent, there have been a number of splits for some Le Labo, but no Amouage if I recall. You could try searching, all the best! have fun on the boards

Edit: You need to have a certain number of posts or have been a member for a lengthier time, or become a supporter, before you can start a thread/host a split in the for sale forum. Since that is the case, you could actually try to PM some Amouage users or potential ones who may be willing to host a split.

Oh my! The price for 12 mls of Homage (the only size available) on Amouage's website list 265 EUROS - I would love a 100 mls of Homage attar and I'll give up everything I have for it !! I did splurge on the 12 mls though and it is such a beautiful rose and sandalwood fragrance with a few other notes thrown in. An attar is like a perfume oil very concentrated and usually is a concoction of roses steep in sandalwood oil and is very often compared to 'parfum extrait' in the more mainstream perfumes - an attar is also a very Indian/Middle eastern tradition and can also be more affordable as they are used regularly. If you are particularly interested in attars, look out for shops that specialise in Indian products. Floral notes such as jasmine and rose are widely used by men in India and the middle east so I don't see why there should be boundaries when it comes to scents. If you really want scents marketed for men with rose notes, Dark Rose is marketed as a mens fragrance - others I have and really like are Les Parfums De Rosines 'Rose D'Homme' and 'Twill Rose' - one of my favourites is 'Rose de Nuit' from Serge Lutens - Serge Lutens fragrances are non gender specific and can be difficult to purchase. Outstanding sandalwood fragrances to me include 'Santal De Mysore' from Serge Lutens, Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier's 'Santal Noble' and the magnificent 'Or Des Indes' - then again Sandalwood Cologne from Crabtree and Evelyn is equally enchanting and does not have to break the bank balance. Sandalwood is one of my favourite notes and would be happy to offer further suggestions if you like, just PM me.
