In a nightly ritual, I take my unfinished sample vial before bed and dump the rest onto my chest before hopping into bed. I love to do this with the heavier scents, especially incense based fragrances. I leave the covers off me until I begin to dose off. I let the vapors riseoff me in the darkness. Were I sleep is always very cold. My body heat really rips the fragrance apart and I can get a full spectrum of the scent just laying there.
The other night, three days ago, I decided to wear Comme des Garcons LUXE: Patchouli to bed. I still had about a half ml left in the sample vial so on it went. Sometimes I sleep sans-shirt and that night was the case. Before falling asleep all I could remember was "this stuff is strong and thick and..."
So, tonight, I'm cleaning out some drawers and I kept getting this whiff of the same strong, odd smell. This event isn't too uncommon having many fragrances and samples sitting around. Who knows what has been sprayed where!
I can pick out what these lingering scents were and where they were emanating from. Once I sniffed out an empty Le Male sample hiding under some clothes. This odd scent just kept gnawing at my brain. OK, time to sniff everything in my room.
And you guessed it, it was my bed sheets. All of them. They all smelled of the drydown of CdG LUXE Patchouli. The reason why I was so perplexed was that it was not a good smell at all. To be frank and biased, it smelled like "old man". You know, when grandpa forgets deodorant (at least both of mine did). They certainly didn't smoke hemp!
Now this stuff won't come out of my mattress. Oy!
