Any Fans of L'Occitane Eau des Baux?

I recently received a sample of Eau des Baux from a friend, and I wore it for the first time last night, and I've got to hand it to L'Occitane.... they've created a pretty damn good scent. For the better part of the fragrance's life (which might I add is stellar!) it's not wholly unique, woody-incense in the same vein as various others before it, but the drydown, oh the drydown! It's is utterly gorgeous, lightly smoky vanilla, just fantastic. Surprisingly cheap for such a natural smelling, well-made scent, I'm really quite surprised that I like it as much as I do, I'm not the biggest fan of the woody-incense genre. Are there any other fans of this underrated gem out there?

Count me in!

Your review sums up this lovely scent. It was a real surprise for me, even with all the reviews i had read before buying it. Yet another example that a scent does not need to be expensive to be a quality item.

I think L'Occitane is an overall pretty decent quality house for what are reasonable prices.
I agree Eau des Baux is good but I also like Eau D'Iparie, Honey & Lemon, The Vert, Eau de Baudian, and Amber. I think all of these are above average scents for below average prices. Plus you can get some of them in travel sizes for under $10.

I like Eau des Baux. It's a woodier, less syrupy Chanel Egoiste, and a harsher Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille - which is more sensual, rounder.

These vanilla orientals have a lot in common!

It's interesting you mention Egoiste. Now, admittedly I have almost no experience with it, having only just sampled it via card last week for the first time. But I was shocked with how much rose was in it. I was expecting something akin to what I got out of Eau des Baux but I just got a TON of rose perhaps juxtaposed with light sandalwood.

I don't own the EdT, I only have a decant, but the shower gel is a staple in my home.

I also like Eau des Baux. One of L'Occitane's classier men's scents.

Ooooo shower gel. Didn't even think of that! It's probably great.

I like Eaux des Baux and Ambre.
But my favourite is Eau des Quatre Voleurs.

Where can you get travel sizes for $10? Didn't see any on their site.

I love Eau des Baux and plan on buying the shower gel soon. Quality frag at a good price.

I've been using the deodorant, which is very nice and the EDT is on my short list.

Two thumbs up from me. I get a new supply every Christmas.

I think it's great. I found it so intriguing I had to buy a bottle.
I don't associate it with the much sweeter Egoiste.

But my wife doesn't like Eau des Baux much for some unknown reason.

To bad your wife does not like it. As a woman, I *wear* it!

Yes, the L'Occitane lines are good at skincare and scents.

Eau des Baux is a masterpiece. What more can I say besides my review of course!

Now you're talkin'
Vanilla and I part company very early on. I admit that Baux is excellent value and contains some great elements. But that doggone vanilla is a deal-breaker for me.

But 4 Voleurs... herbal pine.... happiness!

Unfortunately, L'Occitane is overpriced here. Their full bottles are more than $80!!!

I heartily second the shower gel. In fact, I prefer it to the EdT, which I also own and like. I'm glad l'Occitane has been so successful - they deserve their success.

I own and love Eau des Bavx!

It is a classic take on cypress and incense. However, the vanilla notes that others refer to do not develop on my skin at all. It is by far my favorite of L'Occitane's fragrance offerings.

L'Occitane has some really nice offerings at a very decent price. L'Eau des Baux is one of them, and it was in fact my introduction to the brand. Very well-made, long-lasting. I love it in autumn especially.

L'eau de Quatre Voleurs is my favorite, though. I think that's because of the oregano note; something you don't find too often and which works very well here with the other herbs and the wonderful pine note. Love to wear this when it's hot and dry out.

+1 for the shower gel, just delightful.

I'm very fond of l'occitane but I don't get much longevity from their products; no dealbreaker...

Must try their vetiver.

Great to see all the love here. This is my first foray into L'Occitane and it's been amazingly successful. Stuff like this is proof that it's possible to creat super high quality stuff on a seemingly small budget.
