Looking for a Balenciaga Pour Homme replacement

Now with summer coming to a close and the cooler weather approaching, I'm going to be going for my heavier, spicier fragrances soon (hello 1980s powerbombs). The one I miss most of all is Balenciaga Pour Homme, which was sadly discontinued. It was just such a strange, visceral, potent fragrance that I used to wear quite often several years ago.

I'm looking for a "replacement", if that's possible, one that smells similar to BPH. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as well as some descriptions of the scents you recommend.

Lapidus pour Homme (1987) http://www.basenotes.net/ID26120959.html comes to mind immediately. I own both and am quite amazed at their similarities.

Short description: Take BpH, remove the lavender and replace it with pineapple, and you have LpH. Both contain honey, sandalwood and patchouli. LpH is however not Kourosesque like BpH. In other words a cleaner, sweeter-smelling BpH.

Thanks for the tip. LpH was in fact a frag that came to mind, since I had heard it was similar. Is the pineapple really prominent/sweet in it though? One of the reasons I loved BPH so much was its complete lack of sweetness, to my nose. To me, BPH smelled like a patchouli-fueled blast of greenness I know that may sound like a silly description, but that was always the way I felt about it, and was why I loved it.

Does LpH have the intense green/patchouli accord?

Yep!

The pineapple in LpH sweetens it, true, but i wouldnt describe LpH as a sweet frag. It is more a sweetened "patcouli-fuelled blast (you DO get that!) greenness".

Oh, plus one here. I've been looking for 15 years and I haven't found it yet.

Good, I was hoping some of the powerhouse junkies would pipe in! I'm going to trust your judgment on the Lapidus.

As for the Oscar de la Renta, I recently tried it and didn't like it at all, although it definitely has that shockingly vicious opening blast like BPH. I was never a big fan of the vintage either. I do agree and see some similarities b/w Oscar and BPH, however.

Great! I already have Kouros, so I'll have to try layering it with my soon to be arriving bottle of LapidusPH!

Just wanted to sign in an tell you perfaddict that I've since sampled the Lapidus Pour Homme. It's excellent. At first, it didn't smell anything like Balenciaga PH to me - the pineapple note was very strong and in fact strident for me, and I was thinking to myself, "What the hell is this guy talking about? This is nothing like BPH". But about an hour later, as the pineapple note had evaporated, I could smell the similarity in the awesome drydown. For me, the similarity to BPH is really in the drydown. I like this scent a lot. THanks for the recommendation.

this is really strong juice , last longer than Kouros & many of the Lutens .
